I've had mine for a while now and love it! Came from a BB Curve and really enjoy the Android OS. Apps are plentiful on the Marketplace and AppBrain.

Barcode scanner is a must, you'll see why. Others I have/suggest are:
    Documents to Go
    Google Sky Map
    Key Ring
    Layar
    My Collection or Shelves
    Ringdroid
    Sportstap
    The Weather Channel
    Tippy Tipper
    Voice Recorder
    ShopSavvy

Love the big screen and you get used to the size quickly.

Although many people got shipping notifications, I never did. It just showed up on my doorstep. Did not take as long as VZW estimated though.

I don't really like Android...guess i've been spoiled with my WebOS.

It does look like a very sexy phone though.

I honestly liked just about every google app. I'd recommend searching the app store for google, and downloading basically everything they offer. You can always uninstall anything you don't like.

Sports: ESPN news app, NFL Mobile (which is AWESOME)

Music: Slacker, Pandora, Last FM and Grooveshark, isyncr for itunes.

News and knowledge: Engadget, Discovery, Weather channel

Stuffs: Compass, Droidlight (nifty emergency flashlight), urban spoon (fun restaurant finder, esp for larger cities), Scanner radio, BofA app (obviously only if you bank w BofA.)

Advanced Task Killer: Great for keeping too much crap running in the background at any given time.

Enjoy, I'm still loving my "old" droid.

Mine came today too. I have my work email, calender and contacts working. SO far so good.

Way more functions than I will use. I hate learning new phones but this one is pretty easy. The BB storm was my first smart phone and it did everything I wanted however the END key quit working and I could have have just as easly gone back to storm but why.

I don't know why, but I never liked any of the phones running windows mobile. I only tried a couple, but just didn't like them.

I think they felt too much like a computer, and I was looking for a different experience out of my phone I guess.

This thing EATS battery like crazy. In 3 hours last night, I used 30% of the extended battery. If you use it for internet, I highly recommend having it plugged in.

That said, it's BLAZING fast for internet; MUCH faster than I thought it would be. Mucho cool so far....TONS to learn yet. I've called two people unintentionally so far~ & didn't know how to hang up! LOL

I can see where one could get sucked into spending all their time on this thing....

Get Launcher Pro Plus, the paid version. Well worth it. Always getting updates. He just added a fantastic Facebook widget. He also has a twitter widget, but I don't use twitter as I think it's pointless.

BTW - I love my Droid X. Don't know what I did without it.

How do you get rid of some of the pre loaded apps like Blockbuster and city ID?

Does not seem to allow you to put them in the trash or uninstall.

I received my Droid X about 5 days prior to the guaranteed date.
I've had it 3 days now, and am still learning.
It took a bit to get my email accounts (3) working properly, but they are there.
I am excited to put it through it's paces.

Yep, get used to it. My Samsung Captivate (similar to your Droid X) sucks the battery down every day, and it's not used at all while I'm at work. They're gonna have to start powering these things with built-in, mini nuclear reactors...

I have found out that Advanced Task Killer is your friend! :D

I'm having a blast....the Metal Detector app is fun. The DroidLight is pretty cool, but I could see where you'd burn up the flash & batteries, too in short order with that app.

My girl, however, hates it~ ;)
