Speaker Wire Posts On Amp From The Ice Age
Hello everyone,
I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place...
I have a Yamaha amp (see below) with dinosaur wire posts. The kind where you are supposed to put bare wire into them then turn the post like a knob to lock it. these posts are no good for the wire I use (monster thx) with my lsi9s...is there a way, somehow I can update these posts? whether it be do it yourself or a service...thanks

I have same type amp, M-85. I asked same question to repair shop. They said it would be too expensive to be worth it. What kind of termination do the wires have?

it is like a thick gold braid..they are great wires, but they won't fit...I'm curious whatya think of that amp...does it give quality sound?

You could try to put a pin type termination on them. I'm not sure what these look like. They must be very thick to not fit. These amps are good as far as I can tell. Mine has 265 watts into 8 ohms, and can more than double that into 4 or 2 ohms. I used to sell these many moons ago. They weigh a ton, which indicates a huge power supply. Try to modify the wires, it will be worth it. If not, time for new ones. I built my own out of cat-5 cable. Took a long time to braid the stuff, but they work real well. TNT audio has a site with the recipe.
