Spikes

Hey all,
Grant at mye sound reccomends I use these
http://www.myesound.com/Points_n_pads.html
The big ones on the right, the are 1/2" threads. However as you may already know I will have to drill out the holes for the old inserts.
My 3.1's are smaller than the 1.2's and 2.3's what did you guys use? Mine weigh in at 101lbs. each.
If I do need these bigger spikes:
1)how is the stock inserts held in place?
2)will i have any trouble finding a much larger insert which will allow smaller thread size back down to 1/4" if I choose later to put the old feet back on again?
3)do I have to seal the new inserts with glue, silicone etc.?
Grant has me convinced the 1/4" WILL break off if I tilted the speakers or tried to move them putting stress on one or two feet at a time.
Thanks for looking,
Matt

Grant has been doing this for a long time. If he says the smaller ones will break, I would trust him. 1/4" thread is not very strong, especially when made of brass and 100lbs is quite a lot when you put all that on one or two small areas of stress. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
I've broken 1/4" spikes with similar sized speakers before, his advice is sound."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
