Hey Guys,
One of the the Monitor 10Bs I picked up today are wired out of phase. I just flipped the speaker wiring on the binding posts to confirm. The sound is much better. Now, I actually have a center to my soundstage. Can I flip the binding posts internally? If I do, do I need to flip anything else?
Regards,
Mike

Has the speaker been opened before? Maybe someone removed the drivers & got the polarity reversed when they reinstalled. Here is the schematic for the 10B:

Pop out the passive & you should be able to check the wiring to the MW drivers & the tweeter.

Maybe one had a woofer replaced and was reinstalled out of phase?I would inspect both speakers to see thats the case .If so then the connections need to be reversed at the woofer terminals as this will bring it into phase with the tweeter aswell.Just reversing the binding posts will place the woofers in phase ,but the tweeter on one side will then be out of phase.

Had another thought. The black & red plastic pieces on the binding posts can be removed easily. Are they reversed? Check it against the other speaker. Should be the same.

Hey,
After taking the speaker apart, it definitely looks like everything is stock and nothing has been removed before. Based on a comparison with the other, I think the binding post lug was merely flipped. Thank God, because this is a much easier fix.
Thanks for the help,
