This is not true. Klipsch acquired Aragon/Acurus in 2001. The 4004 MkII was designed and manufactured before that time. More info on Aragon amps here:

You are correct. That is my mistake. I was thinking of the 8008 MkII. That is made by Klipsch. The 4004 AND 4004 MkII were both made by mondial. Thanks for the correction.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

The 8008bb is made by Mondial and the 8008 MkII is made by Klipsch. The design may be similar or the same, but the components are different defiantely.

The 8008bb is the one to get, and skip the 8008 MkII.

Hey now! I have the 8008 Mk II and it's my understanding (from the link I provided earlier) that it's identical to the 8008BB except that it has the Klipsch cosmetics (which I think look pretty cool)

Not trying to bash your toy(s) at all.;) But, from what I understand, the 8008 MkII uses different components in it than the 8008bb. It's not just the cosmetics that are different. There are different tranformers, capacitors, resistors, etc. used in the Klipsch than the Mondial 8008.

Well... had to try and set the record straight on this so sent a note to Indy Audio Labs:

Subject: Aragon 8008BB versus 8008 Mk II

    Hi,

I have an Aragon 8008 MkII. Could you please tell me the differences (besides cosmetic) between the 8008BB and the Mk II? I've read that they are identical internally, but some people dispute that.

    Thanks!

    Response.
    Hello Rick,

Sorry for the delayed response - we were all at the CEDIA show last week with limited access to email.

Regarding differences, the most significant changes in the channel cards were around 1996 when the driver transistors were updated along with a few R's and C's. The newer units use the 2SA1837 and 2SC4793. The older units had the 2SA3298 and 2SA1306. Following that, the MK-II had no significant changes internally. Over the years there were a couple different transformer suppliers, however, the specifications were held pretty close among them from what we can tell.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

    Thanks,
    Indy Audio Labs
