Got my first pair of home Polk's!!

Hey, I just got a pair of Monitor 10B's for $20 locally here...gotta love craigslist. Anyways they are in somewhat rough shape and they have been modified over the years. Anyways, I'm trying to find out what the correct speakers that originally came in these would be. The crossovers are stamped with a date from 1984. I've done some google researching and I've seen mixed answers. These have the protection fuse on the outside of the crossovers. They currently have blown SL1000's in them and one speaker has a pair of MW6600x drivers and the other speaker has a pair of some RadioShack Realistic replacements from god knows when. Anybody got any info? Thanks in advance.

    sounds like you got some researchin' to do...

    I got a pair of Monitor 10 somethings with beveled cabinets and no fuses and danish peerless tweeters??? from goodwill for $20 myself....

    As they have what looks like polk drivers and peerless tweets and sound "OK" I've never bothered to crack them open and see whats on the inside...

    You should post pictures of your Monitor 10s with Radio Shack drivers... I saw a pair of Advents once with Radio Shack woofers in them at the local Value Thrift.

    I'm sure once you figure out what mid drivers are the right ones you'll be able to find them here or on ebay.

    post a picture of them without the grills on.. they we can figure out how much of a FrankenPolks they are.

    They probably bought the Poly 6 1/2 that RadioShack used to sell. Not a horrible speaker for the price but not up to snuff as far as Polk Standards go.

    One of my SDA's had a RS 6 1/2 in it. But then again I got mine cheap.
