Popping in mid on Monitor 7

The mid on one of my Monitor 7's gives several small popping/clicking noises for just a couple seconds in some movie sound tracks. Almost like the sound of a playing card in the spokes...maybe 4-6 and then settles down....hear it only rarely in deep bass segments....
Does this sound like a mid that just needs replace. I can pull it, but any idea on what model will replace it?
Thanks.

Depends on which 7's you have, and whether this is their first trip to the operating table. It is certain to be a MW65**, but from there it gets a little murky. Best bet is just to pull it, get the number, pull the other one to make sure they match, and then decide whether you want to match it, or get a new pair of 6503's.
On the other hand, you could cut your poor 7's some slack, and only feed them frequencies that they were designed for. It sounds like you are bottoming out the travel on the cone, so shunting that bass to a more suitable driver would probably solve the problem. LFE from movie tracks goes especially low, and should only be piped to a dedicated sub or subsThe secret for harvesting from existence the greatest fruitfulness and greatest enjoyment is to live dangerously. - Nietzche -

Good point...I was playing Serenity on BR and using the XXXX-MA audio track....no sub, and the rafters were shaking....that was the first time I heard this and nothing once that passed.....
