Moved in some RTi A7's.

I'm moving my Montitor 70's to my Home Office to run my 2 channel music duty while I move in some Rti A7's to take their place. The A7's are a great speaker for the price (Polk Refurb)!

Music has been pretty good so far. I feel that my Monitor 70's have an edge there, but that's why they are moving to full time music duty!

My plan is to make the upstairs HT system almost complete TV and Movie detail while I dedicate music to my new office. The whole reason for the new office, I have a baby girl on the way!

I picked up a Harmon Kardon HK 3490 to power the Monitor 70's in the office. I think I have decided to no-go the SACD option and possibly go for a Marantz CD5004 for CD playback in the office(I'm ditching rhapsody for CD based audio). I looked at the NAD C 515BEE, it seems to perform on nearly the same level as the CD5004, but it looks like crap... Sad, but in my office, where I hold some meetings, it HAS to LOOK good... The CD5004 has the Marantz name, looks and sound at a good price...

If anyone has ANY suggestions, I'm open!

Anyone see any major flaws in my choices?

I, too, prefer the Monitor 70's over the reference theater speakers when it comes to two channel music. You'll probably get some dissenting views on the topic, but you're certainly not alone.

    Two Channel Setup:

    Speakers: Wharfedale Opus 2-3
    Integrated Amp: Krell S-300i
    DAC: Arcam irDac
    Source: iMac
    Remote Control: iPad Mini

    3.2 Home Theater Setup:

    Fronts: Klipsch RP-160M
    Center: Klipsch RP-160M
    Subwoofer: SVS PB12NSD (X 2)
    AVR: Yamaha Aventage RX-A2030
    Blu Ray: Sony BDP-S790
    TV Source: DirecTV Genie

I have TSi500's (very similar to Monotor 70's) for surrounds with RTi A7's up front. Although I like the TSi's I like the RTi's more even when listening to 2 channel material. Greater clarity IMHO. But as Loud and Clear said, there will be some dissenting views...

Nice upgrade. I prefer the rti a's over the newer monitor series. The vintage monitors sound great for music listening.

That's a heckuva deal! I was about to support the CD5004 (have the 5003) thinking, but you've got that AND the SACD capability now. Well done.

Also well done on the A7s. For me they serve as all purpose speakers and, since getting them the right amount of power, have really impressed.

I like the Monitor 70's far more than the TSi 500's...

The RTi A7's are more musical than I thought they were going to be, but the Monitor 70's seem more natural at music than the RTi's to me.

Give them time and power, u will be surprised how musical they will get once broke in. But they do need plenty of power to max their potential.

I would love to give them more power...

But that's going to have to wait. No more money for audio. :(
