TSi 400s-will I need a sub?
Hi all. This is my first post. Currently I have a Harman Kardon 2 ch stereo reciever-75X2 RMS with a pair of Polk T15s and Infinity 10" 150 watt sub. I plan on getting a pair of TSi400s and more power-maybe about 150 per speaker. Will the sub still be needed? With that much power going to the 400s, will the sub even add anything to the system? Thanks in advance.

Yes,except I'd upgrade the sub, the polk 505 would go nicely and is fairly cheap.HT SYSTEM-

I have the monitor 60's which are pretty similar. I prefer to have a sub when i listen to music in 2 channel mode, but they don't sound too bad without one. I think it's a matter of personal preferance but i like to have more bass. I use the 505 and it sounds great.

I have the TSi400's and got the PSW505 as well. I also have a CS20 center. I am nothing but impressed with the results. I have not listened to the 400's without the sub but for under $250 getting the 505 to compliment them is a no-brainer.
Good luck! -
Thanks for the help. I looked at the 505 sub online-nice. But is there a Polk speaker that will make me forget about a sub-what about the TSi500 or RTi A7?

The TSI500s are pretty good in the bass dept, but not amazing. I have the 500s in a 15x12 room, hard wood floors, running 135w off a stereo amp.
Once they are broken in (took about two weeks for me), the bass definately dropped a little bit. Does very well for typical music, bass solos are quite crisp. However if you are into much bass heavy music (bass mechanic, electronic) or movies you'll wish you had a sub.
Really does depend on your tastes. Hard to get the infrasonics a dedicated sub will get you, unless you are running some monster towers..Components in The Rack:

I have to agree with this man. I have the PSi500s too and opted for 2 PSW111 as I couldnt get any of the better subs over here. I do love a good boom when watching the movies.
From what I hear the PSW505 is a good sub for the money.Home System

Get the sub. Polk TSI series speakers produce more bass as the drivers increase along with the cabinet volume. But, in reality, Polk bass is a tight focused bass--not a thunderous HT bass. So yes, you'll need a sub. The PSW505 is a good budget sub with 300 watts and a 28hz bottom end adequate for movies in small to medium sized room.
