I have a post buried on this....is this the + model? see pics.

I know music is in the ear of the beholder....but why such a difference of opinions on CRS v. CRS+. I have only heard the +.

The front side is posted with my SDA RTA v. CRS post below...I can't get it to attach now...

There were two CRS+ models 1987 and 1989.

    The SDA CRS+ (blade/blade model) uses (2) MW6510 and (1) SW100 passive radiator and (1) tweeter

    The SDA CRS+ (PIN/blade model) uses (1) MW6510 and (1) MW6511 and (1) SW102 passive radiator and (1) tweeter.

So based on the above info you should be able to determine what you have.

Ummmmmm........ because they are two different speakers. The CRS uses (2) tweeters and different drivers and x-over than the CRS+ which uses (1) tweeter. The 1989 CRS+ (pin/blade) is the model to get with the MW6510 for the stereo driver and MW6511 for the dimensional driver.

All SDA's that use the two side by side tweeters sound a lot different. The 2nd tweeter is a dimensional tweeter and it can sound kind of "phasey" at times and a tad unnatural. Later on in development Polk found it unnecessary to use the dimensional tweeter as it actually detracted from the presentation they were looking for.

Thanks a lot....I have been searching for pics and looking at different models and I can see what you are saying.

I noticed that the back of the CRS says SDA Compact on the back and at least one model of the CRS+ says SDA Compact Reference System....

I totally agree with the quote you have had on your posts...I guess I am probably asking about the sound differences between the speakers or quality....right now, I can't afford to buy a pair of each to listen to....

Single tweeter CRS's are CRS+. I am unsure if you can TL Mod both models though?

Like H9 said: the dimensional tweeter can sound phasey or tinny and detracts from the sound IMHO. I have them in my SDA2's and disconnected them. They sound much better now.

Like I said, the easiest way to tell the difference between the CRS+ models is if it's blade/blade or pin/blade. The pin/blade uses the same drivers and x-over as the 3rd version of the SDA 2B.

Which type of interconnect does yours use? b/b pr p/b?

If you have a choice get a pair of CRS+ preferrably the later pin/blade but blade/blade is good too. I personally never cared for the side by side tweeter version of SDA's which is what the CRS are.

    Nice price...maybe we shoul;d compare our inventory~!

the Lawrence ones are CRS+ with pin/blade...the guy is now thinking of keeping them...he wants $400 which is pretty steep...the ones in St. Louis are $255 I think....I'd like to trade him some 5's with cash to boot....
