Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    Yes.

The Sansui AU-717 was first sold in 1977 for a MSRP (Manufactuer's Suggested Retail Price) of $550.00. That's $1979.00 in 2010 dollars. It is a dual mono block design, which means there are two power transformers with associated circuits and components. This is an expensive design that allows each channel to function virtually independent from the other, allowing for improved sonic performance.

The AU-717 continues to be a very sought after integrated amplifier to this day, with new enthusiasts discovering the benefits of it's over-design all the time.

    Specifications:
Power Output: 85 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms.

Power Bandwidth: 20 to 20,000 Hz at or below rated min. RMS power output and total harmonic distortion.

Total Harmonistic Distortion: less than 0.025% at or below rated min. RMS power output.

    Intermodulation Distortion (70Hz : 7kHz = 4:1 SMPTE method): less than 0.025%.

Damping Factor: approximately 60 at 8 ohms.

    Controls:
    Speakers: Off, A, B, A+B
    Bass: +/- 10
    Treble: +/- 10
    Balance
    Volume: Log dB Scale

    Switches:
    Powerc

Old Sansui rocks. Am I correct to assume that this is NOT a common ground design?

I am also interested. Is it also for 230V so can it be used in Europe? There is fuse cup for 110V and 230V but does it mean anything.
