Power for Polk 10's ?

Curious question for you Vintage Polk 10 gurus .....
1st of all what was the recommended fuse size for the Polk 10's ??
How thirsty for power are my old Polk 10's ...
Or should I say how much amp .... is too much ???
You see as I have been slowly deciding on a possible up grade from my old
vintage Quad 405 amp 100 w 2 channel to ...... what ????
(In it's day it was able to produce beautiful window shaking clean music with just the 100w)
Of course I try to read all the reviews on the different amps being sold ...
and sometimes you read a review on a 150 w or even a 200 w amp that states something like this ....
" i was not impressed at all when I first listen to bla bla amp ....
at normal listening levels ..... but when I really drove it up it came alive in detail, presence etc ..... bla bla bla ....."
Then I think hmmm 200 w and I have to drive this amp past window rumble to get details ..? Can the Polk 10's take all that ???
Or would I be on the edge of trashing my old sweet sounding speakers?
Any way that should open up some food for thought ......
thanks for you valued input ....
Tony

Fuse is 1 amp fast blow.
These speakers are fairly efficient and likely don't need massive wattage. What version are your's? As I understand some are rated at different ohms and that is something to take into consideration. I have mine running on 125 watts at 8 ohms and they sound good at low volume and better at high.
but hey... more is better, right?Sounds good to me... -
The old Polk crossovers get tired and lose the detail you're looking for. Keep the Quad for now and refresh the crossovers. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how a couple of bucks will bring your system back to life.

Thanks, 1 amp fast blow .... will have to shop to find them ....
I have the 1st gen Polk 10's I think, purchased in 1977 with the fuses mounted on the outside above the terminals.....
so basically 100w to 150w max?The old Polk crossovers get tired and lose the detail you're looking for. Keep the Quad for now and refresh the crossovers. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how a couple of bucks will bring your system back to life.
I have heard that rebuilding the X-overs is a must ... but 1 upgrade at a time ...
The Quad 405 is also 1977 Vintage and the Upgrade new caps opamps etc. to bring it up to date is near $400 .... then I still need a newer Pre amp...
I have also been toying with the idea of even moving to maybe a used Arcam
integrated, Krell Integrated, Rotel Integrated, etc rather than separates ....
I know I can hear the howls .... lol
But I am open to suggestions .......
