Anyone ever heard anything about US acoustics amps...they sell them in C-field. They look too good to be true for the price..Are Polk EX series components a good alternative to Alpine Type R..both 6.5s...?

thanks

US Acoustics, if you judge them just on their specs, yes they are too good to be true -- they dont pull enough current to put out the power they claim.

However... if u peg them about 75 - 80% rated power, they actually are very durable, decent built amps.

the guys who build Alphasonik over in east Jahunga Thailand or Singapore or whatever build the USAcoustics line.

for the money, they're damn good. I would put them a shade behind the Profile -California amps, which, just like USacoustics are good for the money.... but in comparison to some better stuff... they're lacking.

far as the alpine vs ex iii...... alpine type R comps are built tougher... will take a bit more power, but do not sound as good as the polk stuff.

i like the tonal characterisics and sound reproduction capabilities fo the EXiii gear better than the alpine "highs" -- for subs however, the type R puts the GNX / GXR / and even the DX to utter shame.... it is about equals with the momo --- with a slightly more natural sounding cone material.

if you can foot the bill try to upgrade to the MM6 and if you can get your hands on a pair get the x-overs from the old MM465...
