polk momo subs 10"

I noticed in reading assorted ebay sellers adverts and polk site products that there is more than one type of 10 " momo sub with different specifications.

They are ; the MM100 which is momo
.............;the momo 104 with single voice coil ?
............ ; the momo 2104 with dual voice coils

Question, what is the difference in sound between the single and dual voice coil model, if any ? What is the best polk MOMO selection for a small passenger area car/truck

thanks.........mike

The MM100 is an old model with the red dust cap in the middle. It predates both the MM104 and the MM2104 models.

"Best" is very subjective and depends on what the definition of best is. Are you looking for the tightest, most accurate bass with best extension or the loudest bass possible to rattle the windows?

thanks Eric, am looking for the best sound reproduction from my polk momo 10" sub........maybe rattle windows once in a while also when i hook up the polk 500.1 sub mono amp. I have the 10 " sub in the custom plexiglass backed momo box. I ran it in the back of my sons 2008 avenger with an alpine mono amp and it sounded great, smooth actually.

The subwoofer does not have a red center, it has the 2 .... L shape yellow arrows printed in the middle of the woofer.

Now i have to break it in for 40 hours with general use without cranking it as i have been reading.

Lastly---What difference in sound quality is there between a single voice coil or a dual voice coil subwoofer , i see some of them advertised as single or double.

thank you-- whitby ontario Canada......... mike

I've never compared 2 subs of the same size/model that came in SVC or DVC config so I can't say what the differences are in regards to how they sound. However, I will say that DVC subs add flexibility when it comes to wiring them with other subs+amps for specific loads.

I just received another 10 " momo subwoofer, this one has the red center voice coil, original box says its the MM100. Not sure yet what the one is in the momo subwoofer box with clear plexiglass and the MOMO in yellow print and the L marks also in yellow .

I found a place on this site that took me to the older subs and all the info on them. From the pictures and info posted i have the POLK 10" MOMO mm100, and i also have the polk 10" MOMO MM104.

Guess now i have to fit the sub box and sub into the car and listen to one then swap them out and listen to the other .
