Hi everyone!

Because some unfortunate events, I inherited a Technics system. It´s an old system from early 80´s comprising a tuner/preamp ST-K808, power amplifier SE-A808, and a remote control unit (bigger than the power amp). There is also a cassette deck, and a turntable, I don´t know the models of those.

I would really like to keep the system, for sentimental value. I don´t know how good it sounds, since I have to pick it up yet. So I´ll try to use as a standalone system, or maybe zone 2 using my nad receiver. I think it may be a good way to start with vinyl. Everything is on excellent condition, but haven´t been used for almost 2 years.

So what do you think guys? Any opinions or experience on this kind of gear? Any way I can improve or mod this equipment.

I may also get a pair of loudspeakers, also technics don´t know thew model, but they are old and big. I´ve read that these kind of speakers may play loud, but lack trebble. I may change the drivers or even the crossovers. Any suggestion to improve them? As I mentioned, I´d want to keep them even though I know they may not be the best.

    Got more info.

The turntable seems to be the model SL-Q2 stated as Semi-Automatic Quartz Phase-Locked Direct Drive Turntable.

Looks like it was one of the first units to have remote control, it´s more like a curiosity I think.
