Hi all; I need some info for this Nakamichi amp. The speaker outputs on the back say 8 ohm minimum load. I want to hook up a pair of 4 ohm speakers. Will this amp self destruct with a 4 ohm load? It is an expensive amp and is hard for me to believe that it is limited to 8 ohms are higher. I have searched the net for a owners manual and can not find one. Any help would be appreciated.

You can download the manual here.

I don't see any mention of an 8 ohm minimum load mentioned in the manual and It certainly appears to have a beefy power supply and high enough current capability to drive 4 ohms.I'm guessing the problem might be heat related,in other words it might run excessively hot if required to drive a 4 ohm at high levels for extended periods.

Hi FTGV; Thanks for your help. The 8 ohm warning is between the two speaker outputs with a line going to each. It may be talking about bridging the two together? I am not sure, but thanks for the link to a manual. Cheers

Bridging would certainly place a restriction on minimum load impedance but I don't see a bridging switch. What does it say in the little warning box?it's not legible in the downloaded manual.
