Bad distortion only on certain songs?

I purchased a pair of monitor 60s a couple months ago and have been hearing what sounds like bad clipping on some songs. The volume is not even close to loud. I never noticed the distortion on the Bose speakers I just replaced.

Two songs in particular are Johnny Cash - Hurt towards the end, and Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside throughout the whole song.

So I listened to these songs with headphones and the distortion is still there.

Does anybody else have these songs? Can you hear the distortion too? If so, how on earth could the producer not hear it before he sent it to manufacturing?

are they mp3/wma files or the original CD's. That may be your source of distortion. Mp3's are compressed and therefore there may be some audible distortion.

Yes, they are MP3s, but they are are 320kbit files purchased from Amazon.com. I think it's the way it was mixed by the producer. A little more searching and I found this.

Johnny Cash - Hurt, definitely has a major amount of distortion in the end. So much so that I wont play the entire song, so no worries there. RHCP, not sure, havent listened to that tune in a while.

I'm glad it's not me. Since I got my Polks, I've been hearing lots of stuff I never noticed before.

Yep, Hurt does have a lot of distortion at the end. The producer (Rick Rubin) apparently mixed it that way on purpose to add intensity. Honestly, for me, it works. I do not like the original NIN version, but I think Cash's cover is an absolute masterpiece. It sure was a helluva segue into him leaving this world.

Hurt definitely has distortion at the end of the song. I like it. Like BeefJerky said it adds intensity to the song.

I have the other song in my collection but it has been a while since i played it So I can't judge if it had distortion or not. I can't remember it having any though. Maybe your download got corrupted.

Not the gear,, ive had this happen,, Its the down load,, parts can be distorted, thats why its called a corrupt download,,
Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.
