So - I have a homework problem that's due next Wednesday, but ordered the textbook for the course from eBay yesterday. Which is what most people did. Out of the 10 students in the class, only one has the book. And he's at home visiting his parents. So there goes my chance for getting a head start on reading the text.

Anyways, the problem states "A transformer with an effective mean path length of 10 inches has a 300-turn coil wrapped around one leg. Its cross-sectional area is 0.25 in^2, and its magnetization is 1.2 B(T) at 300 turns. If a current of 0.25 A is flowing in the coil, what is the total flux in the core? What is the flux density?

If possible, please don't just give me an answer, but I would LOVE it if you could tell me how to approach these. After all, when I have my first exam in 3 weeks, knowing how to do the problem is more important than finding the answer itself.

Thanks in advance!
