Using 2 subwoofers

My receiver only has a single sub out. (integra dtr-9.9)
I have a polk psw404 sub and a Velodyne DEQ15R. My front speakers are rti10's and the rears are rt55. center is a cs400i

I want to hook both subs in series. With the velodyne hooked up to the receiver and then the polk hooked up to the velodyne. I want to do this so that I can send the full range signal to the velodyne and then crossover the higher frequencies to the polk.
Do you know if this is possible and what hookups I would have to use.

I would use the lfe out to the velodyne and then use the rca cables to hook it up to the polk. How would the crossovers built into the subs come into play?

Just use a "Y" splitter out of the AVR and your good to go.

I want to be able to cut-off lower frequencies from the polk. I was hoping to be able to use the velodyn's crossover to only allow thorough higher frequencies.

Why would you want to cut off the lower freq. from the polk sub?? Isn't that what a sub is for ? I would use that extra sub for the 55's and run them full range. Leave the velo up front. Or just split them with a Y connection, problem is both subs are different, different speed, etc, and would sound funky if tied together. Seperate them, use one for the lows up front and one for the back. use the speaker outputs into the polk sub and then run them to the 55's?
and then use the velodyne for the lfe out?
very interesting. I am trying to work out how this would run with my current wiring. good thought

Just to clarify. I would use the rear speaker outputs from the back of the receiver - run them into the subwoofer - run the speaker outputs from the back of the subwoofer into the actual speakers. Correct?
As far as placement of the subwoofer, does it have to be close to the rear speakers or can I place it close to the receiver?

I wouldn't use the 2 different model subs in the same room playing over the same frequencies. If you have the 2 subs, go ahead and try them out nothing will blow up but you may not like the result.
