Surprise in Texas

This evening the PBS presentation of the 2009 Van Cliburn competition put a lump in my throat with thrilling performances by the most talented young pianists in the world. I was delighted that Nobuyuki Tsujii, a blind Japanese virtuoso, won a shared first place prize, especially for his wonderful Chopin performances.
Until now televised music performances had always left me uninterested due to the poor audio quality. Now with digital audio broadcast, a good receiver and vintage Polk Monitors I finally have a system that can do these terrific performers some justice. South Pacific was broadcast recently and was also a great pleasure to see and hear. So here are my thanks to Club Polk which helped me to put together this system.

Nobuyuki Tsujii drove me a little nuts with his head movements while playing.
The audio of the piano was very good as you noted but short.
I liked how they showed the conductor communication to the blind Tsujii.
