I have a 5 speaker surround setup which I purchased used. The front channels are RT55 and the surrounds are f/x500. The center channel no longer has its sticker but is similar to the RT55 and has the same bass port attachment. I need to know if the center channel is magnetically shielded. Sadly, I do not yet have a LCD tv but am using an old CRT. I do not want to ruin it by putting a non-magnetically shielded speaker on it. Does anyone know if the center channels from the same year as the RT55 and f/x500 (probably 2001) are magnetically shielded? Is there anyone to determine which exact center channel I have? Thank you very much.

The fronts and center are shielded, the surrounds are not (but don't need to be). Nice speakers btw. Post up some pics of the center and we will tell you which model it is.

Congrats on the score...I have a couple of pairs of the RT55 & RT55i's and I really like them. :D

FYI: I have had all of mine opened up and there is a 'bucking magnets' on all of the drivers. And Polk says they are "Magnetically shielded', so you should be okay.

Per the Polk Spec page, the CS400i IS shielded, so you are good to go there.
    The CS400i features:

    * Magnetic shielding for safe placement on or near your TV without fear of picture interference

    and so is the RT55i's:
