Anybody watch this bbc show?

I have to admit,i am hooked.

Its not just the cars and exotic locations and the total disregard they sometimes show for the well being of some of the worlds finest cars.

These guys can be funny. if you have never seen the one where they went down to old alabam in cars hand painted with things like i love hillary clinton,and certain intimations of living an alternative lifestyle, you havent lived.

They stopped into a gas station, ended up being chased by a pickup full of good old boys throwing stuff at them, eventually pulling over on the side of the highway and washing off their own graffiti.

Even if it was staged, it was hilarious.

And did i mention the cars?

How about a bugatti veyron at two hundred fifty hundred miles an hour.

    That show is great!

    If you can get over some of the more obnoxious "jokes" those guys make then it's well worth the time.

    Even non "car people" like my wife love it.

    Did you see the one where they raced the bugatti against the RAF's TOTL fighter.

    One mile, there and back...

    Jet- straight up

    Bugatti- flat out

    Very cool.....I won't spoil it by telling the winner

    Love the show. My favorite eps are the road trip ones. Across the American South, Vietnam in particular.

    And I can't ever remember laughing harder at something than this season when Jeremy kept rolling over in a Reliant Robin.

    No it hit a couple weeks ago. The news that came out yesterday was that the BBC lost the court case that they filed trying bar Ben Collins from releasing his "tell all" book which basically admits without actually saying it that he is The Stig.

    If you ask me, Ben's a ****. He should have just kept his mouth shut and gone with it. Preserve teh mystery. Part of the fun off the show was the "tame racing driver".

    Oh and The Stig has not been Ben Collins every time. They often have stand-in Stigs of a more famous or specialized nature. Several rally drivers, stunt drivers and such have stood in at various times where their specific experience and skills would have been beneficial to the success of the stunt or program. The Stig that does the instruction for the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment and all the hot laps was Ben Collins. The previous Black Stig was Perry McCarthy.

    It was released ohhhhhhhhh something like 7 years ago that Ben Collins was "The Stig." (I say in quotes because as you allude to in your next post, there's more than one.)

    But Ben Collins is OOOOOLLLLLDDDDDDDD news.

    I'm not real sure how you get off calling Collins a ****. He wasn't the one that exposed himself in 2003. Why so judgemental? Especially when uninformed?

    Not entirely true either. Another person who has done hot laps as "the stig" was already previously named in this thread.

    My favorite was when Richard Hammond drove the Renault F1 car Fernando Alonso won a world championship with. Once he got it going (talk about a tricky clutch:eek:), he didn't stop yelling for the length of the front straight. Any time Jeremy eats humble pie is a close second tho:D

    Love the cars on the show but get tired of them constantly bashing the states. I would put the ZR1 up against any exotic car.:D

    I'ts not like America's the first - there already exists a Top Gear Australia, and there was briefly a Top Gear Russia. I don't see how an American version in any way takes away from the original; if you don't like it, ignore it and watch the original. I have the same attitude about movie / TV remakes. Don't like 'em? Don't watch 'em.

    the guys do take shots at america, usually im pretty sensitive to that kind of thing, but they rally dont spare anyone, even england.

    Also, i have always said you can only get so mad at someone for saying something if they are really funny, and those guys are consistently funny and it always amazes how they come up with all the different ideas for testing cars.
