Just wondering which of these would be best for my rig...

http://www.rogueaudio.com/Products_Perseus.htm

http://www.sunfire.com/manuals/Classic%20Tube%20Preamp%20Manual.pdf

I currently have the Rogue and I LOVE this thing, but with the other pending upgrades(secret for now, but involve TUBE POWER and lots of it!:D) I feel the Sunfire may be a better match.

Any input based soley upon these two?

Rogue and don't look back. They have exceptional sonic quality and as a company they have great quality customer service.

If it were me, I'd put this decision on hold until after the secret tube amp arrives. This way you could hear how it all sounds together and enjoy the upgrade for a while. You don't know how it will sound and you might love it and not find a need to upgrade your preamp.

Tell us more about your pending secret upgrade? The suspense is killing me :)

God man I wish I could, but I have been sworn to secrecy until they are finished. Lets just say they are monoblocks involving 16 KT120's, massive transformers, polished granite decks, black walnut side panels, silver wire and lots of polished aluminum. Expected output is above 450wpc. I will provide pictures in a new thread as the build will begin in a couple weeks.

All you need now is some good speakers to go with all that power.:)

Why would you want to start choosing a pre-amp if you haven't even received your custom monoblocks? Don't be an amateur. Cool your heels and wait until you integrate what your expecting, then think about the overall picture.

Unless you've heard it, the whole rig may sound like crap. Words mean nothing, spec's mean nothing until you actually hear it on your gear. I've seen so many audionuts fail and cry foul when expectations were so high that they didn't get what they wanted...it's laughable. Don't fall into that net.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I am going to do just that I think, but the price I snatched the Sunfire for was way to good to pass up.

    $700.00 plus shipping.:D

I'm not a Carver or Sunfire fan so good for you.

Well, 700 clams is a good price for that unit. It will be interesting to see which one is the better match for your rig.

And those tube mono blocks you described will also be interesting to hear how they sound.

Have fun with all your new toys.

I happen to know he got that Rogue for $900 and it has the magnum upgrades. It may cost more, but the Rogue should prove to be a better value.

I made a promise not to divulge the source or the maker for now. I am working off the schematics and architecture of someone else, though I will be modding it heavily as I am assembling it.

Rogue big guy,all the way. As others have stated, best to wait until the amp part is complete. Could sound like arse and you may need funds to fix or replace. No sense have a couple pre's hanging around with nothin' to drive 'em.
