Silence?

So, I have the flu. Completely had knocked me right backwards. So I stayed home from the work, and just sort of lounged around.
No one was home no cars drove by. Nothing. Complete silence.
All of a sudden it just gets louder and louder and louder....I was thinking the medicine I took to take car of the headache was tripping me out....
Anyone else have this happen? How long did you let it on for....I mean, could that damage your ears....or is it all in your head?

Discuss a time when the silence overtook you?

PC, there are times that silence can be relished. For example, sometimes when I come home from work after driving the least cozy truck for 12 hours, I will sit in the living room and can tune into the sound of fridge in the kitchen two rooms away. All this time, I let the day before slip away and root through a few LP's CD's etc. Something may catch my eye or tickles the auditory memories. I play it.
Just a few hours of silence just might bring your ears to a new level of love for the music.

    Your hearing will be OK.

I think that relates to visual issues not auditory ones. But to answer the OP's question I have been in a place so quiet that as the saying goes the silence was deafning you could actually hear your heart beat but as Russ said no your not going to lose your hearing, go mad perhaps if it continued long enough. Not sue where you live at but few places are that silent without any background noise.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I enjoy listening to the song "Enjoy the silence" on Depeche Mode's Violator SACD. The fidelity is phenominal. Kind of ironic you have to listen to a song to enjoy "Enjoy the silence". Great song though, and I do enjoy the silence after the song is over.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

ahh yes, the sight of melting mountains ;) and near silence until the wife yells out to return that fish I just caught before he gets brain damage!

Actual event...should have known she was going to be a nurse later in life!

I took some of that equate cold/flue medicine from walmart....I do not think I will be taking it again. Anyway it just relaxed me, and my room is sealed off from the rest of the house and on the other side. I have one window to the backyard and about 2 or 3 acres of land afterward....
I was just wondering if anyone knew what I meant.
And I was being funny about my hearing loss. It does get quite loud...the silence...ha....
As for going mad over it....yeah, you could. I tried taking it for about 30 minutes and I gave up and tuned on my stereo for awhile.
I am feeling better now though, I think it might have been a bit of food poisoning from the new restaurant I went to...not sure.
    Anyway.
