Just wanted to vent and open up a new topic of discussion.

After coming home from what turned out to be a terrible day at work I found my logitech 880 on the floor with teeth marks and a cracked screen! Damn dog ate it's most expensive meal yet! The remote still functions but the cracked screen makes me nothing but angry.

So with that vent, what have your pets or children done to some of your gear? I remember seeing/reading about someone who's child stuffed a lego through a driver so I know these horror stories are out there!

Dogs are gonna be dogs and cats are gonna be cats. You've invited a wild animal into your house hold. Enjoy the relationship. Try to tolerate the fact they are just going to be themselves.

^ As far as I knew dogs and cats were domesticated not wild but sure. He's going to continue to wreck things that's a given but this was the first time he grabbed something off the table to do it.

I remember those pics bobman, wasn't that just last year?

My husky got ahold of our nintendo 64 games after I had pulled it out of the closet one day wanting to play it. Went out to run a quick errand and came back to bits and pieces of cartridges all over as well as my neighbors dvd he left on the table.

Not sure about dogs. Cats were the last domesticated animal. When man first began farming about 10,000 years ago and storing grain, along came the mice. With the mice, along came the cats. The rest, as they say, is history.

Cats are the only non-pack non-herding animal ever domesticated. They were lone hunters in the wild. Share the exact DNA as the African wild cat.

Bah? Many dogs that people have as pets were bred for the specific purpose of being pets, not taken out of the wild and brought into the home.

I remember my wife calling and saying "honey promise you won't be angry"! When I got home my wife handed me a beer and walked me to the back yard where my dog dragged my motorcycle and proceeded to tear apart everything that was not metal. When I glanced across the yard, I saw the GD dog hiding behind my pitchfork! He was so F'n stupid I had to laugh! Then I had a few more beers.

Nothing! It's all locked away in a dedicated room in the garage. No access by anyone but myself, it stays nice and safe that way.

    Nick,

Your dog wanted to eat me when I was there. How come I'm not surprised?

My daughter lifted the dust cover on my TT once and took the tone arm and moved it accross the pad, I don't need to tell you what happened to the cantilever. I just ordered another one and sat her down and explaned to her what it did, and asked her to not touch the stereo. I didn't get upset as she was just curious of what it was. I have had no other problems since..

My cat used to like chewing on wires. He mysteriously stopped doing that one day....that's when I later noticed he had chewed part of an electrical cord...I think that's where he learned his lesson.

The dog also used to find wires attractive, until he did the same thing and ate my computer charging cable in which he was shocked pretty badly... if only the remote would have done the same thing.

Came home and stared at my Grado reference series headphones on the couch chewed apart by my 5 month old beagle. Enjoyed them for only three weeks. She chewed right through the foam to the drivers inside. She really enjoyed the taste of the leather headband. Had nice teeth marks in the Mohagany wood.It as my fault that I left them out. :( As a pup she chewed everything but now just garbage picks.

Been at my new job out of college for just a couple of months - bought my very first truck, shiny blue Toyota 4x4 SR5 to haul my dirt bike to the desert

Had the truck for about a week when overnight....parked in my house, in my garage....my wife's cats decided to have an all night chase party in the garage and scratched up the paint job on the hood and roof.

Had my perfectly immaculately cared for dirt bike, ultra tricked out, tuned constantly for my weekend rides...and my wife's cats used it as a pee post.

My wife's cats have long since died - and we don't have any more cats.

My boys had done some similar with my Betamax player both my self and my friend which is also a technician tried to fix it but we came to the conclusion the heads were damaged so I trashed it and I focused on VHS solely from there.

Aside from electronics, one day I looked out the window to see with horror that my sons were busy with hammer and screw drivers taking apart my military plaques  Good thing I was to young then to have a heart attack as this hurt a lot more than the Betamax (even if the Betamax was big time a lot more expensive). I think we (the boys and I) learn some on that day, I've learned that displaying my things while at the same time made them accessible to my young ones was quite dumb. While unfortunately destroying some I then cherished, I realize my 2 boys were exploring and learning how to use my darn tools. Even with a locked workshop, these 2 little devils always managed to put their hands on my tools but to destroy rather than built. Today I can have a laugh at it and manage to surprise them with tools of their own at Xmas or their birthdays. The nice thing now, they use them to built things for their father :D

My neighbour convinced me to take a young cat away from him (he already had 2). My sons being away for the summer, I was leaving the crazy cat home all day. I would come back home to find that crazy beast in my curtains and of course destroying them with his claws. In the days, the speaker grills were material over wood, this stupid cat would climb on my speaker grills and damage them. I never liked to enclose an animal so the cat could wander in the home as it please, my bedroom door open (like most doors), the little devil jumped on my face while I was sleeping, unfortunately I didn't know what was happening and being awake in such a way I swinged my arm and the poor devil flew across the room to finally stop on the wall. I knew then I had to do something for both of us, the cat was driving me nuts and I guess this thing needed a better home. Fortunatley my friend took it and I think he brought it to his mother's place were the cat would have constant company. This has happened many years ago and NO ONE would ever convince me to care and provide shelter for cat anymore.

Now that the boys are raised and that I've been too selfish to care for a dog any longer, I guess I would have to re-train my self on doing the right thing again (secure remotes and other of the sort). However, I better start soon since the grand sons are growing quickly and are quite mobile on their own now (at least for their own sake and safety).
