you are sitting at a desk at work doing nothing and your shoulder tightens like you just got done lifting a buffalo and your in pain for the next 15 minutes...

wow this is sad....I'm only 24 and already feel like my body hates me....
:(

its probably just due to stress lately, but wow...I feel like my body went on a revolt for some reason and I got stuck not knowing anything about it.

Desk work can be surprising. I find that I leave work many days physically exhausted, as if I'd actually done manual labor. I also find the mental toll to be much higher than manual labor (no surprise there.)

What is odd, is I actually feel better at work if I work out hard the night before. So if I go to jiu jitsu and then the gym and then home, I feel great the next day. Whereas if I spend the weekend sitting on my @ss doing nothing, Monday is an incredibly long day...

It helps to get up and take break periodically. Wake your body up, and let your eyes rest. Gotta keep that "excel-itis" at bay :)

    yeah I know!

I've never been in so much pain while doing nothing...it was crazy..but again I think it was all stress related as I had a lot of stuff going on and yeah...blah...

I thought you could only go blind from... ummmm...

    Doing "nothing";):D

It does only get worse. I would get on a good workout routine early as it may save you grief down the road.

WTF kinda new-age BS is that? IF you actually DID any manual labor..you'd be crying like lost girl scout in 15 minutes.

LOL, I hear ya Russ. What's up man?? Doing well here in VA. Single and enjoying the associated peace and quiet :D

I'm tiring of the desk jockey routine actually. I've been thinking about what else I can do that would pay well, but wouldn't necessarily entail me sitting on my rump behind a desk all day.

You are supposed to get up and walk around for a moment rather than remain at the desk for hours. If you continue- yes, you will get muscles tightening and probably your back will start bothering you. If you've recieved any minor herniated disks in life, the kind you were previously unaware of, sitting at a desk without relief for hours is a good way to find them and perhaps make them worse.

yeah...I'm tied to my desk. I only leave when I have to find a file or go to the printer...I wish they had it where I could use a treadmill at my desk or something...like I can never sit still might as well walk it off!.

and yeah I work out, its how I get rid of most of my stress...if I didn't, I think I would implode.

and shut up Ben lol :p

ahhh...some days I wish I could pull an office space...

You need to get up and do some stretching for sure. And you could ask your boss for this:

Swimming is one of the best exercises for a total body workout.

I wish! that would be nice IMO to have compared to sitting there staring at a computer all day...

oh yes it is, I love swimming too, however the only pool around here is the college one and its not open any time that I could acutally go to it. :(
