Crackle in rear surround?

As some of you might now I just received my HT system. For some odd reason I will hear a slight crackle or pop every 10 seconds on my back surround, specifically the left one. This only lasts 2 minutes and then goes away. I noticed this when calibrating the speakers with AVIA, weird stuff. Like I said it only takes 2 minutes to go away. Is there any type of warming up period? If I perform the test tones with the Sony receiver I don't have any sort of crackle or pop. The rears are near a window and I usually have the window opened. Any replies would be appreciated.

Hank

Hmm Dude I honestly dont know. I am replying because no one else has. Check your connections, like pull your Audio plugs (rca cords (white and red)) out and in about 5 times, clean out that connection. If that dosnt work, check your speaker connections. Then if that dosnt work. Call Customer Service, and ask Ken. The drive may be defective or blown, or possibly it could be the amp within ur receiver. Good luck man, and god speed to ya.

Thanks for the reply. I tried disconnecting the banana plugs and that didn't do the trick. Maybe I will give Ken a call. These speakers are brand new. We shall see. I am not sweating it, since right now it goes away.

Does it crackle on all sources? Or just one particular source? If it is one source, disconnect the RCA plugs connecting from that source to the receiver, and unplug, replug about 5 times, clean out the connects. If that dosnt work, id call Ken. Your Welcome, gl wit da problem.

Called Ken, very helpful. What we concluded is that it might be some type of interferance (sp?), possibily from my security system that is in my condo. I still have to test it out. It could also be a wireless device. I know when my Nextel phone goes off in my car the speakers start to crackle, weird stuff. Thanks for your help.

my old nokia 3360 would make my computer speakers crackle right before it rang, while i was on the phone, when receiveing or sending a text message and stuff like that.

i never had a problem like that with my polks however and i have since got a new phone and havent called anyone around my speakers yet lol.

shouldnt that stuff not affect them since they are magnetically shielded? or does that stuff get through newayz cuz it isnt magnetic? idk im no speaker expert lol

Good point. According to Ken over at Polk Tech, he stated that in certain cases if a radio station or HAM radio is in use nearby, he has heard of client's speakers interferring with the radio and the interferace transmitted through the speakers. He stated in that case shielded speaker cables were put to use and everything worked out just fine. In certain cases speaker cables can act as a large antenna. Weird stuff, but understandable. In any event the crackle has gone away for now. Again, not a big deal, just wondering if anyone had heard of such an issue.
