I recently acquired these speakers and amp at an estate sale. I am totally new to this level of speakers. I dont even know that I have enough room to make them sound the way they are supposed to. I couldnt just pass them up though, especially not at the price and condition they are in. If anything, I will save them til I move into a larger house. Anyway it is only about 10 feet from the speakers to listening area. Is this at all adequate? I havent been able to set them up yet, because I dont have a preamp to use with them. So thats another question, anyone have any recommendations on a preamp to match this amp/speaker combo? Also is the 295 wpc that this amp is rated at for 6 ohm, enough power to run these speakers?

I have the SRS 1.2 and Yamaha mx-1000 amp. You are very lucky to have found these at the estate sale, as both are awesome in there own right. 10 ft. is o.k. to be back from the speakers. The key is try to create a triangle. There is a formula. You can possibly download the owners manual which would be a great help. I love that Yamaha amp. It is one of the best Yamaha has ever made. I use it for one of my 2 channel rigs. It is a beast. It will be more than enough drive those speakers.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Bluecomet, what preamp are you using? I was in shock actually when I found these. The guy was trying to sell me an old console tv. He said he also had some speakers and a stereo I could look at. I assumed it would be crap, but lo and behold, srs 1.2 and a mx-1000u were what I found.

Your a lucky man. You should play the lottery tonight. I am a big fan of vintage Yamaha. I would stick to a Yamaha Pre amp. Two pre amps from Yamaha that I really like are the C-65 pre amp and the CX 830. The 830 comes with a remote contol. I was able to find both in mint condition. Currently the pre amp that I use with the Mx-1000 is the Sunfire Theater Grand 2 processor. Mated with that amp plus SRS 1.2's it is stunning. I had read reviews where they said the Sunfires were tremendous for 2 channel music and all I can say is WOW. The detail is terrific and it completely brought the speakers and amp to a different level. You can find Sunfire Theater Grand 2's for around four to five hundred dollars. It is well worth it. Trust me.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
