I currently have RT800i's up front and want to get a good matching pair of towers for the rears. I found a pair of RT600i's for $199 a speaker and was wonding...

1. Will it match with my 800i's ( I am thinking it will be the best tower match )

2. Is $199 a good price for the speaker that is new but an older model?

3. Should I wait till the new line comes out. ( although my budget is limited to $400 )

4. What center should I match these with and what would be a good price. I am assuming it would be either CS400i, CS245i, or would a newer CSi30 match

    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. Up to you, but I wouldn't. They won't match as well and will be more expensive
    4. CS400i would be the ideal match.

isn't 199 a speaker, 400 for the pair? Wasn't CC blowing these out at $200 a pair like a month ago?

I checked with all the CC's in my area, no more RT600i's left. I have only been able to find them for $400 a pair at another higher end store.

I quess I will try and talk them down but I'm not sure how far they will move on them.

Thanks for the words of encouragement ATC, sometimes you just want to hear "yeah thats not a bad deal" from someone with as many posts as you. I know you can always find them lower somewhere else but Im affraid if I don't jump on them now I will be SOL in findind another pair 6 months from now.

I am just trying to decide if I'm acting out of 100% impulse or if it is the wise thing to do. :D

    WOW DID I GET LUCKY!

I decided to call all the CC stores w/in 1 and 1/2 hour drive to see what hey had in stock. I found a new pair of RT600i's for $75 a piece, and a CS400i for $199.

I ended up driving an hour to get to the store but ended up with the rears I wanted and the center I was hoping to find all for under what I was willing to pay for just the rears.

    Now Im proud to say.

    R&L RT800i
    Center CS400i
    Rear RT600i

    all for $670

I am sooo happy, now I cant wait till tomorow when I can crank it. I had to work tonight and it was killing me knowing all this kewl stuff was sitting at home waiting for me to plug it in.

I do have a sub, Sony SA-WM40 with mod. Not a great sub but does the job for now. I will try and upgrade it w/in the next 6 months.

Just curious, were the 600's you got maple?
Man I wish I had the coin for a pair, I bought some for my dad for a gift to replace some cheesy Yamaha rears he was using in his bedroom with summer tuition money haha.
I sure do need a job.
Take care, excellent deal you got.

Maple would be nice but all speakers are black. Why speakers have to be black is beyond me.

Confused, you mean all your speakers are black?
The reason I asked was because that was the color they were closing out for $200 a pair. Black would be perfect for me too, I do like the other wood grains more but my rt2000i's and f/x 500i's are both in black. Man.. maybe I should check around my CC's.. but then I would have to sell stuff.
    Take it easy.

Correct, all my speakers are black. It would be nice if I could find a wood tone that would match the wood in my living room but it would not be the right business decision for polk.

CC has some killer deals if you can just find them. My theory is, never quit looking, just try and not spend the $ unless you got it. :)

I bought 2 pairs for $400.00 at the wiz. The maple ones look great but I think the tweeters are blown. Should be an easy fix. Heavy mothers for their size.

2 pairs, how are they setup are you using them together or for setperate systems?

Why is it I can never find non-black speakers, I would love to get my hands on a pair of natural tone speakers.

1 pair for front of home theater, the other for 2 channel setup. The maple ones have the blown tweeters, so they are out of commission. The home theater setup used to sound good until I put a wood floor in the room. Now it's an echo chamber. I have to work on it. Room treatment, best thing you can do for a system.
