The wife and I desided to get a commercial smothie machine, we got a 20amp Blendtec with the sound inclosure. She has burned up one blender a year making milkshakes and so on. So we desided to spend a littlemore for a quality unit.
Does anybody else make smoothies? If so, What do you make? and what do you put in it? breakfast, lunch and or dinner?
We were thinking of giving green smoothies (vegie smoothies) a try too and to see if there are any benifits as they claim there are.

20 amp blender, Wow. Betcha that would make a mean batch of Margaritas also.

Need that kind of power for grinding up fruit and veges. I have tried these at Costco before and were really good. Definitely healthy. I have a juicer, the problem is clean up. Even though it is one designed for "easy cleanup" it still is kind of a pain.

As meal replacement smoothies I have used the EAS Myoplex products and supplement with bananas, or strawberries or blueberries and skim Milk. Sometimes a little vanilla yogurt. If I am brave sometime Spirulina. It is good for you and tasteless mixed in but gives a nice green hue. For me Chocolate is best flavor of Myoplex.

I used to make them every morning for myself and my daughter. Not really sure why we stopped making them, but might start again now that you reminded me. :)

I used french vanilla yogurt, a whole banana, ice, milk, o.j. and frozen or fresh berries. Blended it up and it was delicious!!!!

When I make them as a treat I normally grab some low fat plain yogurt with a bunch of different berries. Blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, ect and just ice to give it some thickness and cold and its very nice.

Always great on a hot day and a nice treat and healthy too seeing if you don't add in sugar or anything you'll be good.

Funny you should bring this up -- I just finished a large one (2 big cups) for my dinner tonight.

Just this afternoon I decided this was going to be my regular nightly meal for while. In Southern California, we just alternate fruit contents based on whats on sale (there's always tons of fruit in season here given the climate)....this usually means some combination of bananas, strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, pineapples, and peaches...and yogurt of course.

Thanks for the tip. We tried putting yogurt in ours today and it was terrific. That's going to be a staple item in the smoothies now.
