Yep, I see those kind around here too. Even the yard sale ads, just the address and time.Nothing about what they are going to have in their sale...

the sad thing is there might actually be some good deals in there for somebody that wants to go through the trouble.

I see those ads all the time. I regularly check Craigslist/jaxed for audio gear and guitars. Seen an add the other day for a guitar titled "For Sale: A Guitar". Body of ad said "It's black and it's $1500 firm".

I have mixed feelings about this.

Yes, sellers like that are "lazy", and they would benefit from being very descriptive, especially if they have something that would attract a lot of buyer's attention (and dollars).

But . . . the buyer willing to "make up" for the sellers laziness generally ends up with treasure for the price of a few gallons of gas :).

As a buyer, I guess I like it when the seller doesn't provide much info.

Sometimes I think those bland ads are perhaps the seller being pressured by the wife to sell something that he doesn't want to. Posting a nondescript ad may be his way of making peace?!? Then banking that most won't take the time to inquire about what exactly it is he is selling.

I went to an add like that where I bought a pair of CRS+ from a lady for $40, and the husband showed up half way through the deal looking totally bummed. She had put up the add, but he had the speakers for 20 years, around the world with him in the Air Force, and though they were a little beat up, he still loved them. She went inside to answer the phone and I told him I understood, and would leave right then if he didn't want to sell them. He shook his head, looked toward the door, and said "they are gone anyway, I would rather someone who likes them and knows about them, get them".

That day, I learned that wives make you get rid of old speakers, so I have yet to invest in the institution of matrimony. I really felt horrible for the guy, so I rebuilt them for my father as a father's day gift, because I couldn't take seeing his sad eyes in my mind every time I lit them up.

I once responded to two ads placed in my local newspaper by the same guy. One said "Polk Center channel, $50", the other said "Polk Speakers, $50"

This is what I ended up with.

I responded to an add once that said "stereo $150",
I picked up a Carver SD/A 490T cd player & a C-15 pre, both for $150. Sometimes lazy sellers are OK.

I also like being first in line when there are many callers. Then you get there and they want a little more because of of all the interest.

I've paid it once. No problem.

Then I was put out because someone else said they would pay more and the seller said sorry to me when I called to go see the items and pick them up as we had discussed the night before. He knew I wanted to buy but got 50.00 more.I was going to TIP him that.
    No problem there either.
