You can't find the answer because there is NO one answer to this question.

You have to make the decision for yourself how much you want to spend on the amp. You obviously know that you need a lot of power to get the best out of your LSI's which is why you have the Emotiva (I'm assuming).

You can either add a 2 channel amp to the mix or get a 7 channel amp. There are lots of choices for amps, but no one can tell you which one is the best one of the lot.

Do your research and choose one.

If you currently like your emotiva why not just let it power your other 5 speakers and get something really beefy for your 15s? That's what I plan to do if I ever go back to a 7 channel setup... but I gotta get back to a 5 channel before I think about that ;)

I purchased a used B&K 7270 SII for 7 channels of LSi. You can get the updated 200.7 for around $1400.

    Sunfire rocks.

    +1. Here's a 2 chan amp, 600 watts @ 4ohms is plenty and the price is excellent.

+1 I would do this as well. Stick with that Emotiva and get something like a Rotel RB1090. Those LSi15's will be in heaven.

I could do that. The only reason i am thinking otherwise is because of space issues. Otherwise i love my emotiva ( I did not hear any other amplifier except this one:D )

Sunfire would sound great with the LSi's. Quite a few of us have them in our setups. I own a TGA-5200 multichannel amp and love it. I run my fronts on an IceAmp @525 wpc. The Sunfire will power anything you throw at plus you save some coin, email the seller I'm sure he/she may work a better price. Worth the look for sure, that amp is in very good condition.

This is sage advice. I have big power on my Lci HT most of just sits wasting away.

    Per the website

    17" w X 5.9" h X 16.7" d

    Weight is 36lbs

In my case I had to have mine shipped to Japan so weight was definitely a factor for me.

    PDF in case your interested.

honestly I would just buy a stereo amp for the front L/R and go that route. If you already have a 5 channel it would be the best. Otherwise get a small stereo like the UPA-2 for the rears and keep the XPA on the front and sides. There is not a whole lotta info going in there and a UPA-2 would be just fine there. Its a low cost solution as well if you didn't want to spend a lot of coin.

If you really really want a 7 channel B&K, Adcom, and ATI are pretty goo routes to go for a smaller budget.

+1 I would try to run the front 3 off the same amp, thus keeping the Sonic qualities of the L/C/R the same.

Honestly if you added the sunfire to the front and kept the emo powering the surrounds ect you probably won't notice much of a different for HT. If you would be say listening to a lot of SACD ect you would possibly notice a difference but for normal HT you would be fine. You may also notice a difference for 2 channel listening.

Honestly though if you wanna keep it all in the Emo family do the UPA-2 for the rears. They really don't need all that much power in a 7.1 system as they are not going to be seeing that much information and it would be a low cost so that you could spend that money on something else...like more movies..lol

The Sunfire will provide a more natural sound to the mains when listening to music...

There is a Sunfire Signature 7/400 on Audiogon right now and on Craigslist as well.

    www.craiglook.com

type sunfire signature in the search.

    +1

Amp manufacturers don't share the same gain rate.
Emotiva gain is set unusually high, from what I understand.(32dB)

Not saying it will be a problem with 2 different brands, but possible.
    Something to watch out for.
