the lesson is........................

for god's sake, i don't care if it's a little person dressed up like frikkin Willow, if he/she has a gun and is robbing you, do NOT laugh!!!!!!!!!!!

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/blog/2010/08/young_female_murder_suspect_ca.html

let me follow this by saying I feel for the man and his family, and the girl should be charged as an adult. The indifference to life is shocking regardless of her age and upbringing.

from a "you rule your own destiny" standpoint, the victim does have a bit of blame here. I know not all will subscribe to that theory, I guess you can blame my dad on my mindset. He taught me that no one is more responsible for my own well being than me. He never told me specifically not to laugh at gun wielders, but it was certainly implied in the many lessons he has taught me, god rest his soul

That's a very valid point, very, but in a society getting more rotten each year there's more than enough blame to go around.

It wasn't that long ago in the Southern United States 14 year old's would bring their hunting rifles to school, and on the way back home harvest small game. That must seem shocking by today's standards. Here in Montana almost every home has firearms, and the children don't take them and commit robbery. (with the caveat that our larger cities are getting many of the problems on the rest of the US)

No.. you can't blame others unless you are doing your job. Everything starts from the home. Society is the way it is today because how kids are raised and taught at home and school. If you raise your kids as a thug, they will be thugs in society. All I am saying is that it goes back to the basic.. it starts from the home.

Probably shouldn't have laughed, but I will impart no blame on the victim for the little dumb **** pulling the trigger.

this is just sad....I agree the guy probably shouldnt have laughed but she took one crime and made it so much worse.

Armed robbery is one thing, but then to acutally kill a guy is just so sad. People don't think anymore these days. If your walking up to someone with a loaded gun and point it right at them, even though you may not want to shoot, there is still a chance regardless of your "intent". So sad.

My theory on armed robbery was that the last thing they wanted to do was shoot someone, because then they are sure to be caught. It happens quit often around campus, but I can't remember the time anyone was shot. Apparently, it's not a good idea to try to humiliate someone who has a gun pointed at you.

The robbery was apparently part of a gang initiation. The girl has probably seen enough violence and possibly other shootings (either carried out or witnessed), that she could have been desensitized to the potential outcome. Heck she may have even thought she'd earn extra points with the gang to follow through.

Its not always about the parents. Peer pressure plays a major factor in kids lives that many good parents just can't win the fight.

very true. She wanted to be in and thought that this would be even better to do possibly. However bad side is now she will have to sit in jail for life probably due to her want to be in the gang. its just sad in any way you look at it.

All on account of pulling a trigger. I think I had a cap gun when I was 14, or was it a water pistol?

Yes, it starts from the home. My sons do not steal and know how to shoot. But what I'm getting at is over a 70% out of wedlock birth rate for Black Americans, and all other groups steadily climbing, we have a societal problem. In the 1960's with less government help we had many more two parent homes. We actually paid people to have babies and avoid the legal responsibility of being parents. Why is it desirable to have two parents? Because children from two parent homes perform better as adults.

Progressive policies do not make individual responsibility, they make governments larger.

Gangs are a way of life in most major American cities.
They don't wait to recruit them on graduation day.
They get a choice, and quite often it's not a good set of options.
Get money and respect by joining, or get beat up or killed.
IT's a war zone out there.

Its gotta ruin your day when you try to rob someone and they laugh at you. A kid I knew in high school walked into a little store, pulled out a gun and told the old fat lady behind the counter to give him all the money. She laughed at him and he left. Different times I guess.

For goodness sakes, you could look at the girl and tell if she's pointing a gun at you, you better not laugh.

I feel for the victim and family, should he have laughed? Hell NO! Should he have been shot and killled for laughing at a 14 year old street punk? (girls can be punks too, even worse than punk) Hell NO! However look at the circumstances and location, it's not surprising.

Some nations would never turn prisoners of war over to their women. Some nations would, and results were horrifying.

Yes I've read about the horrifying events that took place in the Union Civil War prisoner of war camp outside of Chicago! Scary **** what those women did when they got hold of a prisoner while being paraded into the camp through town.

I think I saw that special several years ago, unless they made a new program.

I doubt the veneer of civilization is too deep, even today. Did you see the History Channel's "fictitious' end of the world portrayal, where the family had to get out of LA after a biological disaster?

It was on History International Channel the other night.

I did not see the one about LA.

My DVR has most of it's programs to be recorded on the History, History International & the Military Channels.

I'm fascinated by history especially the politics leading up to wars and the aftermath and the affects on the rest of the world.

There's a series on the History Channel called World War I and it is absolutely engrossing. What a rediculous series of events that started and ended the war. Actuallly WWII was the end of WWI as it was really only 20 year armistice.

    Sorry about the derail Louie!

Execute all the gang members and any other people involved, then harvest their organs.
I doubt they'll make any significant contributions to society otherwise.

No, put the gang members in the Arena. Ticket proceeds go to victim advocacy groups and other charities.

Hearingimpaired- WWl started for silly reasons, but look how we treated our vets. Vets of WWl were denied various benefits by the US Government. When they marched by the tens of thousands on Washington,to get back pay and health benefits they'd been promised in writing, the Government turned the riot police on them and firehosed their tent city apart.

maybe she just looked idiotic holding a gun, thus they laughed. or perhaps they all know one another, or at least know of one another and they guys couldn't believe what they were seeing. "she's actually doing this? LOL"

either way, fry her **** like an adult. she'll be no use to society ever again anyhow. a prison suicide would probably ensue before she ever got to trial.
