Any Ideas?

Oh, and don't try any of that internal engine cleaning stuff. You mentioned that the previous owner didn't take care of the car. So it's a pretty good bet that the oil changes were infrequent. Trying to clean up the internals of the engine will most likely just loosen up a whole ton of sludge and clog up oil passages and the oil pump.

OP is wrong. Its his check engine light.
Really? Where does he mention that it is the check "engine" light? He says it's the check "oil" light and that's why he's checked the level and talked about changing the oil.

If that is the case, then just add oil additives to thicken up the oil and drive it till it dies. There's no point in sinking money into an old car.

Very true. I may just let it be until inspection, then after have a mechanic look at it. That way it doesn't jeopardize my inspection....
I have replaced the blinker fluid and my muffler has new bearings. Did that this morning.
Damn, I'm not an idiot. Blinker fluid? Bearings? Please.Receiver

Hey man, take my advice on this. You DON'T need to see a mechanic! If you can change your own oil then you can change that little switch right next to the oil filter....it's probably around 10 bucks. When you go buy your oil and filter, ask for an "oil pressure switch" and just change the darn thing.
I repeat, you do not need to spend money on a mechanic for your 1995 car!! If the oil light still comes on after you've replaced the switch then just live with it because the problem is deeper and therefore too expensive to fix for that car.
I've been in the car repair business for a VERY long time and I try to save people needless expenditures on their cars. Trust me, going beyond an oil pressure switch replacement on your old 1995 is a needless expenditure.

Well, I think I will just leave it alone then. Change the oil before winter and call it good.
My luck it would be a deeper problem.
Anyway, as for the light?
It is check oil light. Trust me. I can start it a few times and take a picture. I do not have check engine light. If I did I would not be driving it.
Anyway I'm not an idiot and blinker fluid and all that crap is just stupid.
Just like a left handed smoke shifter in Boy Scouts....Receiver

BTW....I'm not sure what "inspection time" entails for you guys in the U.S. But they will most likely find more serious issues on your 1995 that an intermittent oil light. I say this because you've mentioned that the previous owner didn't take care of it.
CHANGE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH! IT'S AS EASY AS UNSCREWING A LIGHT BULB AND **** IT BACK IN!

Oh I know what issues it had. The engine itself has a lazy lifter and my engine life is a toss up.
I'll try that on tomorrow. Changing the switch?Receiver

Joe gave you the answer, why are you still whining about people calling you an idiot????
CHANGE THE DAMN SWITCH!!! -
I said I was going to try that. If it persists, I will change the oil, if it still persists I will just let it be and hope for the best.
Anyway. Thanks.Receiver

Like I said before, you sure do seem to have a lot of problems. If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Eh, it's an old car. It is bound to have issues. I just like to ask around and see if anyone's has experienced the same issues. That really is all. I don't have very many mechanics like larger areas and the ones I do are about a 20-30 minute drive out of town. So, when I make the trip I would rather go there tell them what I want and to put it in. You know?
Anyway. Thanks in advance. My VIP does not have my particular oil pressure switcher in stock but they said it will be there in 3-4 days. In the mean time I will poke around and find my swticher.Receiver
