Anyone know anything about this old tube integrated amp (Harman Kardon Trio A224)?
I did a web search but really couldn't find any specs, just a few pictures. One guy said that he thinks it is 12W / ch another thought 24W / ch. I believe it is form 1959 and in working condition?
Would it be worth the while for $150?

I think it's running 6BQ5s in PP configuration. so i'm guessing thats 14-17 wpc.Yamaha RX-V2700, EMI 711As (front), RCA K-16 (rear), Magnavox Console (Center & TV Stand), Sony SMP-N200 media streamer, Dual 1249 TT =--- Sharp Aquas 60" LCD tellie

The hk site is down (?!) but they should have the manual online (when they come back).

Should be a nice amp; pp EL84 (6BQ5) is good for about 14 wpc. You'll only get 17 wpc under load conditions designed for the 7189 output tube (essentially a super-EL84); a plain vanilla EL84 won't last long at the plate voltage (and plate dissipation) required. -
Ha! This old amp crossed my mind last week so I started searching online for it. I could only remember the H-K brand, the approximate year he bought it (1959-I was 7 years old) and what it looked like. I soon found this site: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/harman_trio_a224_stereo_amplifie.html
and this press release from Billboard Magazine in Google Books says 12 wpc: http://books.google.com/books?id=BQsEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA18&lpg=PA18&dq=Harman+A-224+Trio&source=bl&ots=V_4TUGkUBG&sig=J4xmStKvBL05RpiiuMyvZt89bS0&hl=en&ei=Z8V1TKLWGML78AaG7q2qBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBMQ6AEwATge#v=onepage&q=Harman%20A-224%20Trio&f=true
Here's the schematic: http://www.angelfire.com/vt/audio/harmank.gif
My Dad built a system for my mother who was an opera buff. The Trio drove a huge Altec speaker that I think was a coaxial 2-way. In my teenage years, when the folks weren't home I could drive the neighbors nuts with it. One older neighbor down the block told me how good it sounded. I think he was trying to make a point (not in a good way).
Having a better appreciation of tube gear now I wish I had snagged it when we last went through his stuff. I don't recall seeing the manual when going through his papers, but it might still be there.

Yes hk is very good about legacy product support (one of the best in the business, given close to 60 years of products to worry about). The hk site was down last night when this thread was originally posted; glad it's back.
