Whats the best option.64 bit can operate with more memory.Correct.?
4 gigs enough or should I make it 8?
Do I need the pro version which only seems to add an xp mode?.I already have xp and Id like to have the dual boot option. If I go to install 7 with xp already installed should I make another partition?(Id like to have them both installed on the velociraptor.)
I found out last night while getting my read on over at overclockers club that I should have win7 to access all the features of my new i7 cpu.

64 bit since you are talking about 4+ GB of RAM. 3x 2GB sticks will give you nice 6GB.

Correct, Pro over Home gives you the XP mode and more networking options.

Install into a separate partition side by side with XP

    CORRECTION!

mmm... didn't ask, but assumed it was an i7 compatible with triple-channel DDR3 - thus my comment of "3x 2GB"
Yours may be the dual-channel socket. Sorry for the confusion.

I have 4 gig of memory running windows 7 64 bit. I do a fair amout of video encoding and never come close to using all my memory. If I were you, I would get another raptor and raid(stripe) them. This will give you much better read rates and performance. If you want to run xp for some reason, run it in a virtual machine. I have mine configured with two ssd drives raided and it is very fast. Just a suggestion.

Whats this virtual machine thing your suggesting.
Id like to be able to play some of my older games so would the win 7 pro be able to run them in xp mode?(thats the version I ordered today)
And just what is this xp mode in win 7 all about anyway?
