TV stand recommendations

Hey guys. I'm going to need to buy a tv stand for my 46" Sony LCD here in a couple of weeks, and wanted to see if anyone had a stand/brand they absolutely loved (or hated!)
I was hoping to get some feedback in regards to brands, stores, anything that might help me whittle down what has turned into a mess of a search.
I would like to keep the price below $300 if possible, and would prefer a darker wood finish.
I'd also prefer cabinets below the TV for both components, and a fairly good sized blu-ray collection.
And if you have a stand with a matching media rack (for dvds/blu-rays), that would be good info as well.

That brings back memories...I chartered Mr. Bush (owner of Bush Furniture) and his sons about 10yrs ago. Nice Guy....and quite wealthy!
I am also in pursuit of a tv stand. I did alot of searching and narrowed it down to this so far. It had to fit most of my audio equipment, had to be reasonably priced, offer vibration dampening, make as little of a sonic footprint as possible (since it sitting between my speakers) and look good...

Thanks for the feedback guys; good stuff so far.
I've heard good things about Bush, and they seem like a pretty good bang for the buck buy in regards to the quality you're getting there.
That's a nice stand as well fish. Not exactly what I had in mind in regards to looks, but I do appreciate the functionality you mentioned there. This is going on my possible list, as I can justify going a few bucks over.
edit: What do you like about VTI demi? A bit more modern looking, but I could certainly live with this guy:

I like stands with the "backbone" in the back like this one:

Hanging the TV on them saves so much space - essentially you get the top shelf for at least your center channel speaker. I have my center, HD-DVD player and PS3 on the top shelf, thanks to this arrangement. And my TV can be rotated around, so I can rotate the TV and watch it from kitchen (open concept rooms).Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

That's the exact rack that I have and I love it. I love that its modular and open back so its really easy to get at stuff, including wires and connections. My Pioneer SC-05 is a huge AVR and it fits it perfectly. Its built to last and if you load it up with shot or something similar it definitely isn't moving.
I'd buy it again if I needed another one. I'll snap a cell pic of it later. Getting my dish installed right now. -
Thanks Demi, we share good taste apparently
Silly question, but how difficult is it to UNload shot from this rack if you plan on moving? I assume not, but wanted to check prior to making it hell on myself the next time I move.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

The caps come off pretty easily. There would be 15 separate tubes to fill/empty, though, if you wanted to fill them all (including the small ones on the bottom). I don't have any shot in mine but my sub is the weakest part of my system so perhaps why thats why I don't hear any rattles or anything.
All you'd have to do is turn the thing over to get the shot out.
Cell phone pic (sorry its blurry)
I'll have my Digital SLR here tomorrow and can snap a better pic. -
Interesting. I think my only concern may be that I'd have to place my center channel "off center" with that rack.
Then again, I may go 2 channel while I live here since I can't hang my FXi3's anyway, so if that's the case this would be a slick set up.
I'd like to see what you did for cable mgmt before pulling the trigger on this guy, so if you happen to think of it when you're taking more pics, please include a couple straight on the rack and from the side so I can get an idea of how clean I can make this look?
Thanks for the input all. My results are narrowing some.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

+1 that is a great rack to have and you could always add on more shelves if needed.
Also if you are into DIY check out the Flexy rack that Jstas made. They are pretty easy to put together and you could make it more to your needs if you wanted to get creative.
I might have missed it but what about wall mounting the TV and then put the center on the top shelf? -
Yea, I am in a rental unit, and these guys are pretty stuffy with what you can and cannot do to your unit (they strongly frown on wall mounting electronics), so I'm going to avoid hanging either my TV or my rears, hence the need for the stand.
So that's 2 votes for the same stand; good stuff. I went to racks and stands online over lunch and spent an hour confusing myself/ adding prospects to my list. I appreciate the feedback?2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Cable management is pretty easy since I run HDMI to everything. I've got my speaker wires coming off my amp to my speakers, my ICs from receiver to my amp and then all the power cords.
You're going to see a lot more cables in this setup due to the open design, but with cable ties and a good plan they can be well hidden. -
This is what i got from Bush for about 350. The rack and the tv stand.
Black tempered glass shelves and Thick aluminum.

Pretty fine furniture for a TV though. Most stands look like eyesores to me.
If you are into wood stands, this week, Aldi has a mission style oak tone wood stand on sale for $120. It looked pretty decent to me.
Yea, that looks pretty slick as well. More than I want to spend, but certainly nice enough to at least consider.
Thanks for the recommendations. Nice to know what brands/ stands you guys have had good luck with.
