Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I like how it says the sales of 3-d sets that require glasses have remained stagnant. That may very well be the fastest a certain technology has come and gone. Look for very cheap sets that need the glasses around x-mass this year. Still, they seem to think in this economy, people will be spending 3-4 g's on TV'S. I want to know who does their marketing info collections.

Be interesting how one TV can make the transition between 3-d and regular HD,without glasses. Has to be some funky conversion going on there.

The non active glasses model uses 3 screens with different angles of reflection .The draw back is that as you cant sit too far from the set because the effect is lost or if you sit off angle the effect is lost too

This no glasses technology is going to be used in nintendo;s up and coming 3D's

    This gets my vote.

I honestly don't see 3D tv's going anywhere at the consumer level. Too expensive, too gimmicky and I can't see the average joe who most likey is just now starting to get in Blu-ray go and get into 3D.

Agreed....some are still transitioning from 1080i to 1080p, adding bdp's,new hdmi cables, receivers with hdmi and the new sound formats, this stuff adds up quick. After a dismal x-mass shopping season, I predict rock bottom pricing come January.

Agreed I finally bought a HD TV for the first time this year, I bought my previous TV new in 2003 so its highly unlikely that I will be throwing it away for a 3D one anytime soon, I know the price of things come down faster now than ever before but technology needs to take a break HollyWood cant keep up buying new cameras etc every year :p

My current TV is a 46" Panasonic. It was made, I **** you not, August of 1990. It turns 20 years old this year. I bought it used for like $50 about 5 years ago now.

The wife and I are buying our first new TV later this year. It will be a 3-D TV. We will keep it until it breaks or until 10 years from now, then we'll buy another. 3-D might be a fad, but I guess I'm buying into the hype. Hopefully 10 years from now prices for the new TVs like the one mentioned in the article are available for what current regular LED/LCD/Plasmas are going for.

TVs are getting so damn good these days its difficult to gauge what the future will bring. I mean, the eye can only see so much detail...and TV's seem to be on the verge of getting to that. Seems like 3-D or something similar would be the next step.

This is the first time in my life I dont agree with ron .Even though ron is awesome

3D is here right now for cheap cheap.... just look at the optoma hd 66 for $600 thats 3d and you can ad an nvidia card to a pc for nvidia 3d vision and play thousands of games

If your pc has bluray you can also watch 3d bluray without the expensive hdmi1.4....there is also a dvd driver that converts standard dvd's to 3d and its had rave reviews so I think 2d is on its last legs and getting ready to go

There has been word on boxes in development to convert high frame rate plasmas and lcds to do 3d without the hdmi1.4 and my tv has 600 frame refresh instead of 120

That reminds me of this joke.

The year is 2222 and Mike and Maureen land on Mars after
    accumulating enough Frequent Flier miles.

They meet a Martian couple and are talking about all sorts of
things. Mike asks if Mars has a stock market, if they have laptop
computers, how they make money, etc.

Finally, Maureen brings up the subject of sex.

'Just how do you guys do it?' asks Maureen.

The Martian responds, 'Pretty much the way you do.'

A discussion ensues and finally the couples decide to swap partners
for the night and experience one another.. Maureen and the male
Martian go off to a bedroom where the Martian strips. He's got only a
teeny, weenie member about half an inch long and just a quarter-inch
    thick.

'I don't think this is going to work,' says Maureen.

'Why?' he asks. 'What's the matter?'

'Well,' she replies, 'it's just not long enough to reach me!'

'No problem,' he says, and proceeds to slap his forehead with his
palm. With each slap of his forehead, his member grows until it's
    quite impressively long.

'Well,' she says, 'that's quite impressive, but it is still narrow.'

'No problem,' he says, and starts pulling his ears. With each pull,
his member grows wider and wider until the entire measurement is
    extremely exciting to the woman.

'Wow!' she exclaims, as they fell into bed and made mad passionate love.

The next day the couples rejoin their other partners and go their
separate ways. As they walked along, Mike asks, 'Well, was it any
    good?'

'I hate to say it,' says Maureen, 'but it was wonderful. How about you?'

'It was horrible,' he replies. 'All I got was a headache . She kept
slapping my forehead and pulling my ears.

Farengi might be the martian's distant cousin then, judging by their foreheads and ears size.
