Any takers?...I think the most expensive speaker I ever heard was around $20k, I am always amazed at speakers at this price point. Just how much better do they sound? Anybody heard a set at this price point?

Not really. I've heard awesome and it sure didn't cost that much.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

There is so much good gear out there. I think the bar for true stereo has been in a general sort of way been raised over the years, lots of trickle down to take advantage of. I like the idea of engineers and such folks responsible for R&D being able to do no cost limits design to reach out and try things for speakers and gear, we all pay a bit for it no doubt.

I would spend $200K for the perfect speaker, if it existed. Until then I'll stick with lower cost items with massive bang for the buck.

I would never spend 200k on speakers.. I will just stick with my "Bose Wave Radio" Better then SDA's anyway and a lot smaller and they fill the room with sound just the same......

^ I've heard those and didn't come away with much WOW factor considering the price.
