Indigestion? No more, now that I have discovered the secret to eating what I want and drinking Orange Juice [once again] like it's going out of style. Taco's? No problem. Spaghetti sauce, Thai food, tomato based products? No problem.

I have tried just about every daggum thing under the sun to try to get rid of heartburn/indigestion, whatever you want to call it. From products that supposedly prevent it from happening, to products that claim to get rid of the issue after you eat whatever disrupts your system to begin with. Nothing, it seems, seems to work.

Behold the answer. It's disgusting, it tastes like the combination of Orange juice and toothpaste, but it works.....and damn, does it work instantaneously. The answer is Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

Don't believe me? Try a swig after you have already eaten the food that causes you to feel like crap, then tell me how you feel one minute after wards. You can thank me later. ;)

    yes i have.

i was in a bad car accident in 04. i was in the navy at the time and they kept feeding me 800mg motrin and thats what lead to my stomach getting so messed up. they wanted to do surgery on my stomach. i went to see a few different doctors and 3 of the 4 said i was too young to do it and i would have issues. forgot what it was called tho. and the NAVY doctors are not well known for doing GREAT work.

I keep a bottle of it in every vehicle and one at the house. Whenever I get the least bit of feeling uncomfortable, all I do is down a swig and whalla! It's gone and does not need any more attention. Been using this as a cure for about 6 months now and it has yet to fail me, no matter what I eat or drink. It amazes me how quick it actually works.

Why waste your money on prescriptions or other stuff that in my experience do not work when you can just try this, be cured instantaneously and call it a day. It's pretty cheap and it works like a charm every single time. If only I had found out about it years ago....

If I had, I could have saved myself some serious dough and a lot of heartache. No pun intended.

Hey Tom, a teaspoon of vinegar has the same affect. Why? In your case, and in a lot of people's situation the reason for the heartburn isn't excess acid! It is a lack of the acid enzyme used by your stomach to digest your food and balance one of the very strong acids used to start the digestion process in your stomach.

Baking soda; used also as an anti-acid and indigestion remedy, why? it's acid. 1/2 teaspoon stirred clear in a 1/2 glass of water = instant relief to someone suffering from a lack of acid causing their problem.

So the Organic Apple Cider Vinegar remedy is no surprise to me. My problem isn't lack of acid so 20 mgs of good old fashioned Prilosec twice a day prevents any and all stomach problems I used to have away. I haven't had heartburn or indigestion since I started taking it last year and I've tried them all.

BTW my Prilosec costs $5 a month.

Joe, I have tried the baking soda thing over the years and it's a hit or miss. Sometimes I'll have to drink a full glass with probably 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda [Yuck!]. A 1/2 hour later, I have to drink some more. That bites.

One swig of this? It's gone. Fine'. Done, that's it. I love it. Tastes like [you know what] but it works and only one time, one swig for me.

Yours is not the usual problem. You have holes burned into your stomach lining from all the Ibuprofen. You need something other than the run of the mill over the counter or prescription anti-acid medication to heal those areas. Have you had an endoscope lately?

Tom I was just giving an example. It's great that you've found a home remedy for the problem because what I've heard about the medical treatment for the lack of acid enzyme isn't pleasant.

I'm in a damned if I do and damned if I don't situation in that my pancreas is weak and boy from time to time it dumps too much digestive enzyme then not enough etc. Too much insulin, not enough insulin etc. It's not fun but at least it hasn't gone into acute pancreatitis for over two years now.

I don't have chronic acid reflux, but I do get it occasionally. I found pepcid complete to be a god send. It works quick, and rarely with any side effects.

I'll have to try it because I'm getting sick and tired of eating even just like noodles just plain white noodles and feeling sick.

Curious, did you have burping issues when you went to bed? If so, did this cure it?

The apple cider sounds more palletable, for sure - I've just done regular white vinegar for extreme heartburn. It's rough, and actually makes it WORSE for me for about 5 seconds after it goes down - but then it IMMEDIATELY stops, and the HB is gone.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Um, no sir. I burp pretty much when I need to burp but the burping has, to my recollection, not been associated with HB or indigestion.

Usually it has to do with the amount of beers I slam down and how quickly they are polished off. That, or if I drink an ice cold Sprite or Dr. Pepper.

I'm glad you're not afflected. For a while, my wife would have a burping attack for 15+ minutes the moment she went to bed. It's over but I'm still trying to figure out why. I think it was a reliance on too much antacids.

Thanks for this post. I'll keep it in mind for future reference.

Just an update. I have used this as a cure for about 4 more months and I have noticed one thing. The occurrences of having indigestion have dramatically decreased. I just realized when I was searching for something and ran across this thread again, that I hadn't had indigestion since before Christmas.

Early last year, I would have indigestion 3-4 times a week and often at night.

I take 40mg of Omeprazole every day, unless I happen to skip it for a day or two, and it costs me $10 for a 3 month supply......hell of a lot cheaper than apple cider....and it travels better.

Yeah but I bet the cider doesn't have any long term side effects that a prescription probably does.

Rarely do I get heartburn, but when I do a spoonful of regular table mustard works wonders! Well not at first but wait about 30 seconds and it does. lol

Baking soda is a weak base, so it is alkaline.
