Tomorrow I'm parting ways with the roomate + an apartment building and moving into a 2 bedroom house, alone. Can't wait to crank the stereo, barbecue, walk around naked... well not naked but at least I'll have the option if I wanted to. The fun part is going to be filling the house with furniture, man that's going to take away from the stereo fund.

Gonna pickup some beer, move and get wasted. I have a nice week and half holiday starting tomorrow. Off to Toronto for a Neil Young concert on Monday... Golf all week in Niagara Falls... then next Saturday a Pearl Jam concert... then back home to unpack.

Anyway, hope you guys have a great weekend. Gotta love the build up of week long holiday away from the everyday grind. I'm skipping out early today. :D

    Congrat's dc...

If you don't mind, let me know what material Neil pulls out of the old catalog. He's coming here in August and I'm thinking of going.
    More later,

I saw Neil Young about 8 months ago, at a benefit he puts on called "The Bridge School Benefit". It was awesome, he played Old Man, My My Hey Hey, Heart Of Gold, Tell Me Why, man all of his best (IMO) stuff. He was there with Tenacious D, Foo Fighters, Lee Ann Rimes, Vanessa Carlton (Man is she a hottie), Thom Yorke (Singer of Radiohead), The Other Ones, Jack Johnson, Ryan Adams and James Taylor. It was a KILLER show to say the least. I hope this summers lineup is just as good, and has a few new names in there.

    Back on topic-
Congrats on moving out, I wish I could do the same sometime in the near future. If only rent were not so much here in $unny California where a basic 2 bedroom apartment is $1400 a month. Ouch.
I am sure it will be nice to play music whenever you want to, set up your own stuff wherever, sounds like you're set.
Take care, and good luck with the move.

Tour, Neil is touring with Crazy Horse. I haven't seen a set list yet, but know the concert will be more than worthwhile. He is coming here August 1, and I will be there.

Congrats on the move. I'll be doing it throughout the summer. Nice and slow.

P.S. I've got a duplex for sale. It could easily be converted to a single family home with 2 full baths and 5 bedrooms.

    Thanks guys.

The move went well, it was a little hot out. Around 30 celcius not to humid and nothing unbearable. Worked up quite a sweat though. Everything is still in boxes and I'm heading out to Toronto today, it's about a 4 hour drive. I wish I could unpack this week but oh well, eh? Neil Young is more important.

I quickly setup my receiver and CD player and things sounded quite different, my new place is all ceramic tile so it sounded brighter. I'm going to pick up an area rug this week. Another thing that sucks in my new living room is smaller and the layout is brutal.

As for Neil Young, the concert is tomorrow and I'll let you guys know how it was. I'll also have a Pearl Jam concert to tell you guys about too. All when I get back from the trip to the big city. ;)

Tour, thinking about going? You should go no matter what.... he puts on a great show.

Mike, Bridge School must have been awesome. He always gets a good lineup. Was it all acoustic?

$1400 ouch is right. Roomate blues too or what? I got this house at steal, $500/month + utilities. Usually a small 2 bedroom house would go around $800+ here, but a cousin of a friend gave me a great deal.

Anyway, I'll let you guys know how it all was. Busy week coming up...

Congrats on the move! Are you renting or did you buy? I think a lot of people would be surprised that in many cases, it's actually cheaper to buy than it is to rent. Either way, got to be a great feeling to be out of an apartment.

    Hey Derick
Yeah, all acoustic. I live about an hour and 15 minutes away from the venue he uses every year for it, so I have been for the past 4 years. I really hope that Dave Matthews and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers get worked back in this year. A really amazing show, everybody has such different energy and its cool to watch everyone. Last year Neil and James Taylor went together for Heart Of Gold which was really awesome, and the year before he and Dave Matthews did All Along The Watchtower, then he and Billy Idol did For What Its Worth. Its the only opportunity to see stuff like that, can't wait for this comming show.

Yeah when I move out I will have the roomate blues- still living at home right now :D I will be going into my sophomore year of college, but I really would like to get out of the house. We will see.... I still need to find a job that actually pays before I think about doing anything so expensive.
    Take it easy.

    dcarlson,

Congrats also on the move man. Having one's own place is grand.

Ceramic tile huh? Well, I have the same problem too. Area rug and leather sofas helped. Unfortunately, I eventually changed out a lot of my gear. Well, unfortunately because it came at a cost but I'm happy now.

    I'm just renting.

It's great to free from the apartment. Tuesday was Canada day I had the day off so Monday night, first night in my new place with my system setup. After a few beers, put in the new Zeppelin DVD, sat back and enjoyed. I put an area rug down and it doesn't sound harsh. One thing I did notice is that my RT1000i put out more bass in the new place, I haven't setup my sub yet. I don't know if I'll be able to find a spot for it.

So much to do.... my phone doesn't work, phone company is coming to check it out today. The dryer in the house doesn't blow heat. Still need to unpack some stuff. Need to buy a bunch of things: garden hose, garbage can, barbecue....

Lucinda Williams opened for Neil, she did a good job. Reminded me of Sheryl Crow only a little more country.

Neil Young was awesome, concept show about a small American town. Check out. http://www.neilyoung.com/greendale_frames.html DVD coming later this summer. The show was almost all new stuff, the usual great Crazy Horse stuff.

After the new stuff, they only played 5 old songs.
    Hey Hey My My
    Like a Hurricane
    Love and Only Love
    Powderfinger
    Roll Another Number

Pearl Jam was absolutely amazing. The best show I've ever seen. I have a new appreciation for Eddie as a frontman. He seemed to be feeding off the crowd's energy and likewise the crowd was feeding off of his. The Buzzcocks were OK, couldn't understand anything the singer was saying because they were turned up so loud everything sounded like crap. As far as I could tell they were sort of a Sex Pistols type punk.

    Set list:

    RELEASE
    BREAKERFALL
    HAIL HAIL
    SAVE YOU
    CROPDUSTER
    DISSIDENT
    IN MY TREE
    GIVEN TO FLY
    INSIGNIFICANCE
    LOVE BOAT CAPTAIN
    GET RIGHT
    I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES
    I GOT ****
    LUKIN
    CORDUROY
    THUMBING MY WAY
    DAUGHTER
    EVEN FLOW

    ENCORE BREAK

    BUSHLEAGUER
    FORTUNATE SON
    DO THE EVOLUTION
    BETTERMAN
    CRAZY MARY
    SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE
    ROCKING IN THE FREE WORLD

    ENCORE BREAK 2

    BABA O'RILEY

All in all, a great week to kick off my stay in my new place. Played some great golf with my brother down in Niagara Falls in some 90F heat with humidity felt more like 100F. Also picked up the new Radiohead on Vinyl. It's good to be home but I've been bustin my **** since I've been back.
