I think I'm having a reaction to this crap. I took one this morning seeing I needed a wake up of some sort as I was here at work for 12 hours yesterday and then again for a long haul today. Took one around 9 this morning and now I think its worn off I'm super dizzy, hot as crap, and my face is burning and is bright red.

Never again! I knew it would be too good to be true. Going back to coffee or diet mt dew after this, at least I don't feel like dying after I drink coffee....

normally I would never take these things but wanted to try something out as I knew soda just didn't cut it today and they were out of red bull... :(

Never touch any of that stuff...not Red Bull...not 5 Hour or anything similar. The closest I get is maybe one cup of coffee (rarely) at work or some Gatorade after/during strenuous activity (again rarely).

Lack of sleep is never an issue for me because a normal night for me is around 5 hours and often go on less.

I tried a few a while ago and will never drink one again. Did nothing for me. Sugar and caffeine or what ever else they put in them do not give me any type of pick me up. Plus they just taste bad IMO.

I wish I could run on 5 or less easily, but for me I normally have to get about 6-7 to be good. I've just been very stressed as well which doesn't help.

I'm very much addicted to caffine, love the stuff. I know its not good to have as much as I do, even one day without it and I'm ready to pass out and sleep for the next month or get a headache so bad I can't think straight or stand lights ect, its pretty bad....

and to clarify, its not that I need a butt ton of it to live. Normally one can of Diet soda normally mt dew before 12 and I'll be good for the day and won't need anything again, or a cup of coffee. Is this good? no, but then again I'm not smoking crack every day or unable to run 5 miles because of what I'm drinking.

I am not addicted to caffeine but when I try to run on 2 hours of sleep that just does not work. I have things from starbucks as a treat not as a need.

The only caffene I consistently get is in sweet iced tea...and even that is not every day. I will drink a coke every now and then and the occasional cup of coffee at work...never at home.

I usually go to bed around 2:00 and up between 7:00-7:30. I could sleep later if I didn't have to work...but I am a night owl...not a morning person.

My job has been very stressful lately as well. For me that means less sleep. More that once I've woken up at 4:00 or 5:00 and can't go back to sleep because too much business crap is running through my mind. I need a new job...

I get a bit flushed and hot about 20 minutes after drinking it, but then it's smooth sailing.

I find myself a night person too. Often once it gets to be like 10 or so I'm very awake and can be that way until 3 in the morning easily, sucks the world wouldn't agree with that type of life style, everyone always wants to go to bed.

and agree, I've been having trouble falling asleep due to business stuff and if I got it all done, ect ect. Going to be this way for the next month or so until other people in my department return from materity leave so everything is back to normal...

cstmar - you're just not used to the huge load of caffiene and sugar you dumped into your body all at once. Basically you just ramped your body into overdrive, and burned off every last bit of energy you had in store. Eat something, drink water, and let it wear off.

I feel the same way if I drink a bottle of Mt Dew at lunch. I'm just not used to the caffiene. I used to drink 3-4 cans of Mt Dew a day, and now it's a rarity, so when I do drink it, it just doesn't work.

Actually probably the main reason this happened to you is because it contains niacin or also known as nicotinic acid which is vitamin B3. It helps to convert foods into usable energy. It opens capillaries and increases blood flow near the skin. So obviously when you have an intake in higher doses such as in these energy drinks, some people have reactions to it like you had.

I have taken them when I'm working a 24+ job. Normally, I shotgun two, and I'm good to go for 12 hours after that. WIRED+++++.
I have only done this a couple of times when I know it's a scheduled
all nighter. And of course, I never get the day before off.

There's no sugar at all in it, and no more caffeine than a cup of coffee.

I had one for the first time a couple of weeks ago, because I was heading to a concert and I was really tired. I never felt a rush, but I no longer felt sleepy, so I guess it worked. I wouldn't care to use it on a regular basis.

The only one I can really drink is Red Bull or some of the Monster brand. For the most part they taste terrible. I usually do Gatorade or Mtn Dew the most.

Being flushed, turning red- pretty classic reaction to vitamim B. Not to worry. I'm not promoting the product, but it does avoid the heaviest doses of caffeine and sugar found in products like Red Bull.

When you get older than 40, Mt Dew will add to your waist line. Used to drink it all the time.

Nothing quite hits the spot as well as a hot meal, hot cuppa, and a bar of chocolate. I've found the key to not getting sick on coffee is to have a full meal before. Otherwise, I spike for a few but I'm right back down half an hour later. When I get a full meal in before, the coffee "lasts" for a few hours.
