tequila drinkers

Got a couple of weddings come up that I gotta attend and I normally bring a bottle of some booze either vodka or tequila to use for shots for the wedding parties when I know them because it reminds us of old times...;)

Wanna try something different for once, and if its something I'm not going to find in a grocery store the better. So if you got something throw it out there because I'm cool with whatever and trying to find it online and order it or seeing if the local store can get it in.

Some of my favs are:

Don Julio 1942
Don Juilo -silver, resposado, anejo
Patron-Platinum
All Cabo Wabo
and many others but I gotta get back to work and can't list. I'll go up to 100 bucks a bottle if its good and hard to get.

My vote for Patron or Julio stuff. That's usually what I stick to if I'm drinking it.

    ...for holidays we use:

    Casa Noble Anejo 2 Yr

    or Patron

....both are smooth and a waste with a mixer

....for a special occasion, to set a unique tradition....try Absinthe with the special accessories. Basically a high alcohol content of Ouzo. It is not smooth and should be used as directed. Glows under black light. It was the drink of choice in the Salon era. Made with wormwood. Was outlawed for years. Can now get it in the states.

Reserva de Familia (the anejo, not the platina). Yes, it's made by Cuervo, but it's 100 bucks a bottle and unbelievable!! More of a sipping tequila than one for shooting, and if you weren't told that it was tequila, you probably wouldn't know. That, and it comes in a great painted wooden presentation box designed each year by a different mexican artist. Here are some reviews:

    http://www.epinions.com/reviews/pr-Jose_Cuervo_De_La_Familia_Reserva_Tequila_750ml

If you really just want to shoot it and get hammered, Cabo reposado probably wont taste quite as bad on the way back out as most tequilas.

In the same price range, but much better and harder to find is Tenoch.

Patron is one of the worst tequilas made, and is a waste of money. Mexicans who know tequila wont drink it. It's the tequila version of grey goose, a yuppified version of a spirit designed to somehow make someone "elite" when they order it. Other than snob appeal, there is really no reason to drink this crap.

Don Julio is pretty good, but not my fav.

Oh, and if you drink Patron, I'm not calling you an elitist snob, drink what you like. It may be the best thing your bar carries, or simply the best tequila you've had, because you haven't had many higher end tequilas.

And you DID drink some with me at my place, and seemed pretty happy even though your gps had gotten stolen.

Haha I was in a really chill mood at your place :)

But if I'm the least bit upset, tequila is a no-go for me!

The gps, well that was really the least of my concerns at that time!

Porfidio Anejo Agave Spirit With Cactus in the Bottle.

    spiritPorfidio.jpg

This is one of the best Tequilas I have ever had. Not a tequila for shooters like the Jose stuff. Smoother than Cabo and More robust than Patron. Big fan of the Silver. Treat it like a fine cognac and have it with a Cigar. Heaven!!!!!

I need to get a bottle for the weekend.

Don Julio Anejo - best sipping tekilla for the $$. Do Not shoot this! 1942 is more of a desert tequila, kind of sweet. Patron - way over rate - not even bottled in Mexico (Las Vegas0. The largest tequila bar in the world is at Pancho's in Cabo San Lucas. Have tried many tequilas there and DJ is always floating to the top. They actually have a local tequila there in a 5 gallon pickle jar that has an albino rattle snake in it - preserved. $30 pesos a shot. Serve your tequila from the freezer - very cold.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Patron the only reason why I normally will drink it is because most of the bars around here carry only that or Jose, and I'm not drink Jose crap, never. Unless its the platinum which is better than the other Jose but again..its still Jose...blah

Platinum Patron is not bad, and normally for people who don't like tequila can put it down easily so thats why if I'm drinking it, that would be the one, however it is more expensive but we can get it for a decent price so not too bad. Does tend to lack flavor IMO but it is smooth, so girls tend to like it too lol ;):p

Don Julio makes another one above the 1942 however I've never been able to find it besides online. I forgot the name but heard its amazing. It is more expensive than 1942 which I personally love.

Normally I will sip my tequila with a meal if its a nicer one. Cabo stuff and Julio Silver, and Resposado I will shoot straight with no training wheels because its not needed. There are others but can't recall off the top of my head the name, bottle shape yes, name no lol...

    THATS IT!!!

Ok yeah, its expensive, but heard its worth the price. 1942 is normally about 100 bucks a bottle (in a store) or 15 a shot at a local Mexican place I found it at here. Patron Platinum is normally 20 bucks a shot..but thats not what I normally pay lol....
