Huge fire near our house. This picture was taken from the road we live on by a local reporter. Another fire is burning across the valley, I will take a picture of it tonight and post later. You can see the fire at night.

If you haven't done so already, get all of your important papers, photos, and basic supplies ready for a quick evacuation if needed. There were alot of people around here that were caught off guard last year during the fire season and they lost everything. They had no time at all to collect anything of value, or importance. I'd hate to see that happen to you too. better safe than sorry!
Now quit reading and get busy!;) -
Man, wildfires, crazy. At the rate it is raining over here, the eastern coast of the US will be the mississipi river in about a year.

They are saying that here in CA., Big Bear area that due to the infestation of the bark beetle and lack of water, trees are dying at a rapid pace and that this could be a very serious fire hazard season.
If a fire starts in Big Bear, most likely Big Bear will be burned off the map.
Stay safe Ave!
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I spent 2 years on Ft. Huachuca south of Tucson and came up on fire duty a few times. They actually put us through a quick fire fighting school which was actually alot of fun. I was very fortunate because there was never any fires while I was on duty but I was witness to a few and they are scary things to witness. Its amazing how helpless you actually feal when nature is taking its wrath near you.
Hope all goes well and in your favor.

Hey thanks for the replies fellas.
Frank,
We did exactly that just to be on the safe side. But the wind is blowing the opposite direction, and is moving away from us.
Ron,
The Bark Beetles did exactly that to this area, and to the entire pine forrests of Arizona basically. Plus they are in the same drought (sp?) conditions as most of the West is. -
Absolutely FREAGIN CRAZY..I have never witnessed so much damn rain and snow in the past 6 or 7 months and you guys out west..dry as a bone. I was at work the other night and watched a frog come hopping inside through a doorway in the manufacturing area. For christ sake even they are seeking shelter.
avelanchefan and everybody out there take care..please. I too hope everything goes well.suds, suds and more suds! -
avelanchefan,
Dam scary to me. He in Michigan we get a few tornadoes, but dam nothing like that. It might be time to become a Red Wing Fan and head north. -
