External low pass filter

I have two SVS PB10's currently connected to the sub out on my denon receiver. I was thinking about trying to runn stereo bass for music listening by connecting the subs to the left and right pre-out on the receiver. Problem is that these subs have no crossover. I was searching around on Amazon and found these:

http://www.amazon.com/FMOD-Crossover-Pair-Low-Pass/dp/B0006N41EM/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1282077378&sr=1-7

Esentially just in line low pass filters I could hook between the pre-out and the sub.

Would this work? Anyone used anything like this?

Great product!! I use them on my two Velo subs (70Hz low-pass). I just set the external crossover switch all the way up on the subs & that disables the subs internal crossover. I have my monitors crossed over at 50Hz (hi-pass) from the AVR. The blend is seemless & the sound is superb for both HT & 2 channel.

It'll work but, is 70hz really where you want to blend in your subs?

Not saying it's right or wrong, it's just that you won't know for sure at what point they'll blend in seamlessly to your mains unless you're running a wide variety of cut-offs.

Why not run a y-adapter from the subwoofer out on your AVR first and blend in your subwoofers to find out where they sound best matched with your main speakers?

I actually bought other low & hi pass filters to play around with. I must have spent about a month trying all kinds of combinations. The 70Hz low-pass on the subs & the 50Hz hi-pass on my monitors is the ticket for my system & room. I'm sure this combo wouldn't work in other situations but is sure does in mine.

They have products for a variety of frequencies - I just happened to link the 70 Hz. I will probably go with 60. Thats where I currently crossover the sub out and I like it best for music in my room.

    SMS-1: $499.00

    FMOD: $25.00

    :)

No doubt SMS-1 is an amazing product but probably overkill for what I'm trying to do. I actually have a nice natural house curve in my room (10 db gain from 80 down to 18 +/- 5db) so complete bass management products haven't really been of importance to me. Just want to try stereo bass ;)

OK, they actually dont have a 60hz variety - they have a 70 and a 50. And I have neither of those choices on my AVR to try it out. I have 60 and 80 but not 50 and 70. Sigh. 50 might be a little low for my tastes. 70 might be a good balance after all. Gonna have to think about this...
