Value of RT drivers?

I've moved and no longer have room for speakers the size of my beloved RT16s (or so my better half tells me!). Itching to try my hand at building my own speakers as well, so I've decided to sell what I have. Aside from my inability to post in the flea market since the 100 post requirement went into effect, I have no idea what fair pricing is for the drivers... would like to get a fair price, without gouging for drivers that may be tough to come by (club polk has treated me reasonably well in the past, so...). Anyway, I have 2 pairs of RT-16s, an LS f/x pair and a CS 350-LS. All drivers are in good shape, but cosmetically things are not great (UPS crushed the bases on one pair of RT-16s), the bases on another pair are delaminated and missing grills, the vinyl is marred on one of the f/x and the CS-350LS is rough (cosmetically, not functionally). So... I do not think selling locally as a set or pairs will get good results (have listed on CL anyway), but I have no idea what a fair asking is for the drivers... anyone want to lend advice?

I wish I could give you a firm answer, but I don't think there is one. You can search old threads to see what people were selling drivers for, and it may give you an idea, but it doesn't mean anyone will buy them. For instance, I have rt16's, and I love em. I'm aware that replacement drivers are no longer available from polk. My speakers still work perfectly, but I'd like to have back-up drivers just in case. I would probably pay 10 to 15 bucks a piece for the woofers and tweeters. This is based on my recent purchase of RT16's for 150 bucks. Now if I had a driver fry on me, I'd probably be willing to pay more. If they were reasonably priced I'd probably grab a couple as insurance.

Put 'em on Ebay and see what they sell for. I hope you aren't trying to skirt the rules by intimating you want to sell them hoping someone here will PM you.

As I recall the RT16's have a 7 1/2 woofer. Def. a rare driver since most of the RT line had 6 1/12. THat being said it is a more finite audience you are going after. Should be a bit more difficult to find buyers.

Also , I recently recall someone that was looking for drivers for the CS 350 but I can not recall who it was. I would search the forum for that member.

BTW why are you just selling the drivers. I read that the cabinets were in bad shape but I can almost certainly say you would get more for the entire speaker. IMO

not trying to skirt the rules... would prefer to sell in the flea market as I have in the past... any way to get an exception from the mods? Not going to pollute the forums with 30 worthless posts to get to 100. I am also trying to sell the complete speakers locally on CL... speaking from experience, shipping on these is exorbitant. Thanks for the replies!

Why dont you build your own speakers with those drivers? You can probably go crazy on the cabinets and crossover upgrades.

without the driver parameters, I'd be shooting in the dark. I'm assuming Polk new what they were doing in designing the cabinets... very unlikely to get good sound with these drivers in a much smaller cabinet.
