$1,800 is a bit steep for me unfortunately. If I had the funds, I'd be all over it. :(

I'd Pay $1500-$1700 for a pair in good condition, but lately everyone is looking for steals. Make him an offer you can afford and go from there. I'd start at $1000 and try to fill him out.

yeah me and the buddy drove to OK city for the pair that was in the for sale section that was listed at a grand. The pair that was for sale in the KC area at 1900 never sold and the guy decided that he was going to keep them for now because no one wanted to go up to his price.

McLoki, now you have me wondering. Will the amount of post that I have or the fact that these are in near mint condition make the sell ?

I would say replying to a thread about speakers for sale where the comment is made that they are to expensive with

is pretty close to listing them. Granted you did not post a price (another forum rule) but then again - based on where you put it - you can justify whatever you want.

    as to your second comment.....

    Rule #1 under selling guidelines...
You must have a total post count of 100 (contribute to the other parts of the forum) before you can sell anything in the "For Sale (FS) Classifieds" or "Garage Sale" forums.

    Anyway - I am out -

I never offered them for sale here, I was just commenting on the market. I have them listed locally.

What would I check to make sure these speakers are in working order? how important is the air leak test. If they are found to be leaking can it be corrected?

I would say air leaks would be the last thing to worry about. If it does fail the air leak check badly, check the mids for cuts/tears in the surrounds.

I would be more concerned about frozen drivers. Push each driver in gently and listen/feel for raspy sounds. They could even be froze completely and won't budge.

Listen to each tweeter for output. Of course, this is not easy on 1.2's as they are progressive point source. If memory serves, the 3rd tweet from the top will sound loudest. The others will have lower output.

Take a copy of the SDA troubleshooting manual with you.

As far as things not repairable, the cabinet itself could have water damage. Almost anything else is repairable.

If the seller is cool, he may let you pull a few drivers to compare model #'s and dates of manufacture. That may give you an idea if the speakers were abused and have many replaced drivers. Check the dates on the mids against the date on the PR. (its rarely replaced and should be original)

Are you gonna go look at them?
