AVR Upgrade?

Are there any AV receivers in the $500 price range that would have pre-amp out and maybe a little more power in the internal amp than my current Onkyo HT-R670?
I'm going to want the ability to upgrade to an external amp in the future and I wouldn't mind a little more power on-board the receiver to power 2x M70's, 2x M60's, and a CS2.
I'm thinking I might be able to sell my current receiver as it's not very old, maybe I could get close to $300 out of it. Paid $550 for the HT-S6200 HTIB set.

I don't mind buying used or refurbished if it gets me a step up from what I've got now. I'd like to keep my eye out for deals, but I have no idea what would be the best for me. Just want a little step up in power and pre-amp out.
I'd plan on keeping this receiver for quite awhile, so it's have to be a little future proof.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I just ordered a Pioneer VSX-1120-K.
I hope I won't be disappointed with it. -
new egg has the YAMAHA RX-V1900BL for $579 shipped free!
I don't have any experience with this receiver, but it's 130w per ch receiver, so it should be pretty beefy.
Also at accessories4less you can get the onkyo 807 for $599 which is a 135w per channel receiver. This one also has the network port so you cn stream internet radio.
Either one would be ok if you don't need hdmi 1.4 (3D compatibility)
I'm receiver shopping too, and those are the two I am considering.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

i don't think the Pioneer VSX-1120 has a 12v trigger, so hooking up an amp might be a PITA.
I could be wrong, but I didn't see it in receivers specs on newegg.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

Please explain as I don't know really how hooking up an amp works, just want that option down the road.
I thought all you needed was pre-outs? I think if you want triggers you have to buy the elite model or something like that.
If this is going to to work I'm going to cancel my order as it hasn't shipped yet. I just want to be able to use a powered amplifier in the future. -
a 12volt trigger is what tells the amp to turn on/off when the receiver comes on/off. Without it, you would have to turn the amp on and off manually. That's all it does. It's a convenience factor.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

I read on another forum about a possible workaround, using something called a smart power strip that turns on all the devices when the main device is powered up?
Would something like that work?
