Watched it last night, I thought it's such a great insights into the training of special forces.

hats off to anyone who survived the training. Btw, do we have any polkies who are/were with any of the special forces?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

it's a rude awakening and exercise in humility for sure.

It's a true pain management for those who can survive. My system would shutdown in the first 10 minutes, flat.

Not in the special forces (previous military though) but I did kick their asses into shape when I was doing this type of training. The dropout rate was about 85% in my training programs. I wished the powers that be would allow a more strenuous program so I could have weeded out the other 10% that should have been tossed on their asses. My whole goal was to get them to DOR. Some show up for training and DOR in the first half hour of the day. When I run across these people in everyday life they cannot even look me in the eye. They know that when it got tough, they quit. Some do try and come back in future training programs but I did not give them the chance to fail again. They were asked to leave and not return, they gave it up once, so they will give it up a second time. It's just a matter of time. At the beginning of training they hated and cursed me, but by the end there is such a mutual respect it's amazing. Kinda like when everyone comes together in the face of a natural disaster. It takes a rare breed of person to make it through this type of training. I give them all the respect in the world for making it through.

I don't know any Green Berets personally.

My buddy was at a dead end in his life when we were in our early 20s. He told me one day he was going to join the Navy and he started training. We were all proud of him. I got a call from him after he completed his boot camp and he said he was going to try out for the Navy SEALs. I wished him luck but in the back of my mind I thought he was nuts.

Well, he showed up at my place one day and he had completed BUD/S and had gone on to become a Navy SEAL. Rare breed.

    Amazing accomplishment for him.

Each branch has their own special breed. The Seals are the baddest of them and do more intense training than any. Following that would be Green Berets, Rangers, Marine Force Recon. After those I would say EOD would be next followed by the ground pounding Grunts. Try Marine Corps Boot Camp for 13 weeks. I'd give anyone here who signed up and completed it 300.00 bucks after graduation. Whose going to do it?
