For that price, I would buy the new 8100 since its relatively cheaper, under warranty, etc.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

For a couple hundred more I'd go with this, if the budget allows.

People keep pushing that 4000. I've never had a projector so I don't know what the difference is going to be like. I mean would it be better to not buy a screen and project a 4000 on a wall, or a 8100 with a fixed frame screen?
The 8100 w/screen is $1650, vs $1900 4000AU + painting the wall. Regardless I'm still waiting on TDY pay so I can't do anything now anyways!Work in Progress HT

Hate to throw another consideration into the mix, but... are you a hardcore gamer? If so, Panasonic may be the better option because they tend to have faster processing and a gaming mode that reduces input lag. That said, I'm happy with my Epson and the lag is still workable for gaming. Both brands throw fairly comparable images until you get into the UB line of Epsons, which have better blacks than the Pannys. That and the 2-year overnight replacement warranty of the Epsons is why I went with the Epson 8500UB. So Sherardp's advice on going with the 8100 is sound for that reason - Panasonic only gives a 1 year warranty, and I'm not sure about whether it is transferable to a new owner.Equipment list:

Its primary purpose would be for games. Thats really what I want to use it for. Still the question stands, am I better off having a screen and the 8100 or the 4000 and a white wall?Work in Progress HT
